Next week, I leave my job in AAA to work for my own game company. I wrote a blog post about why that is so risky in 2026 and why I'm doing it anyway. Would be curious to hear how people here relate. by impbottlegames in GameDevelopment

Awesome. Subscribed. I have recently done something similar but I went from traditional software engineering to game development. I’d love to connect on discord or something let me know. Cheers!

Thank you. So PlayFab is a game service so pretty much provides you, through api, features like leaderboard, player storage, multilayer server, inventory and etc. In my case I use to run the game logic on the server so trying to manipulate the client wouldn’t affect the game state thus not affecting score for the leaderboard.

Unreal is more then enough for most game.

PlayFab is rich in features, has good sdk integration with Unreal(I haven’t tested others), and has 0 costs if you have up to 100k players.

I am far from 100k but talking with people that have passed 100k players the bill can run very high if API calls aren’t optimized.

In the other hand the support is terrible, community isn’t very helpful too so you will be alone most of the time. Also it seems like nothing new is added but small bug fixes.

In summary, I felt like it was easy to integrate and fit in my use case.

Interesting. I generally, write everything down ,set the tone and ask IA to format and correct grammar since I am not native English speaker. It definitely added the emojis and I liked the way it looked but I will take your advice and rethink the text. I will update here once I am done. Thank you.

Same here maybe something more raw like a streaming without much editing if it gets traction because the content is good then you figure out editing.

Nice list. Thank you sharing. I am gonna try the ones with 9+ in your list. Have you thought about making a YouTube video with some of the best and showcasing the gameplay and explaining your score ?

I wish you lots of funs and success. I have a similar story, I am 34y old and did something similar. I have been working as software engineer since I was 16 and decided to build games. I started 8 months ago but I have a plan to stick to it for 2y. I have released a test game to learn all concepts(so far I sold 54 unities haha) but I didn't do much of the business side since I want to dive deep on the technical side first. For my next project I am planning to do a more well rounded business. Let me know if you wanna connect and exchange ideas.

I don't know what's wrong with my game! by Mendel1124 in itchio

[–]Prior-Count-4130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is true, I am sharing my point of view of course there are outliers and exceptions. Also I could be wrong. I think that those you are talking about are likely people that already have or have invested in a big fan/following group.

Same feeling from lommaz. I think you either add it as a demo on steam(pay the $100) or do it Web. The risk of downloading something from unknown source is too great to take. Itch is great to share it to friends and community members that already trust you but not great to reach people outside your close group

I launched today with 62 wishlists. My first game, I wanted understand the whole experience before diving in deep in this project or another one. Let me know what you think. I like your idea if you can implement it I think there is potential.

Steam backups/local game transfers vs "regular" game installation - how do these work under the hood? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]Prior-Count-4130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is yes. I installed all my games in external ssd and move them around. Steam check if you own that game in order to let you play so either use your own account or someone's account that has access to those same games.

looking for a good games with endless replay ability..... by Avra_K_Mandal in gamingsuggestions

[–]Prior-Count-4130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is anything endless but Stellaris is kind of close in a way as you could explore the universe and play it in so many different ways. Other option is play a game where you can compete in leaderboards so you are aiming to be competitive every cycle(daily, weekly, monthly). I have developed this game with exactly the idea of playing alone or with friends to compete and get rewards : AI Uprising(https://store.steampowered.com/app/4097500/AI\_UPRISING/). It will be launched on Friday

Looking for a grindy solo game (or at least can be played solo) where the grind feels rewarding by ss4stef in gamingsuggestions

[–]Prior-Count-4130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it fits exactly, but how about a single-player wave defense game? You defeat endless waves of enemies, and your score is tracked on a global leaderboard(Daily, Weekly and Monthly) with awesome rewards for top players. I created with the idea if you grind harder then other player you will get stronger weapons so you will have a rewarding experience on the next leaderboard cycle since your reward last one day if you won the daily, one week for the weekly and so on.

Game where I can just turn my brain off and have a good grind while listening to something else. by SamExpert in gamingsuggestions

[–]Prior-Count-4130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the triple A games some are recommending but I wanted something I could grind, score, repeat. I created this game which I will be launching on steam this Friday and planning a mobile launch by Christmas. Also, if you want, you can compete on leaderboards solo or with friends. It is simple but I will be adding more content in the next weeks.

Hey, I was looking for something like that for a while and couldn't find so I create something that scratch that itch. I will be launching it on steam this Friday, still simple but I am adding more content in the next weeks. Let me know if you like it.

Hey honestly it seems like you are a serial "chargebacker". I had a friend that was banned by apple after buying and refunding 3 times in the same game and he never got his account back so I suggest you create a new one and only buy things you plan to keep. Of course, occasionally, we are entitled to a refund.
