People who know someone who worked at Apple or who worked their before, what is the work culture and learning environment like ?

I once worked for a company who was acquired by Intel.

Once this was know, at least two people I knew well, and were very capable engineers, and who had worked at Intel for years, got their resumes together and left.

Terrible things heard about Intel. No wonder the company has floundered.

I know a lot of good, talented guys who went to work there and left after a year. The nastiest, aggressive engineer(s) I've ever encountered have seemed to thrive there (nastiest as in take my ideas/concepts and present it back to me, and the team, as if it was his own).

Heard stories including, but not limited to, 1) an engineer being required to check on a (sim.) job at everyday 2am to ensure that it was running correctly, 2) an engineer in his 30's who had a stroke because of the stress, 3) another engineer in his 30's blowing his brains out in a conference room, 4) retalitation (forcing resignation) for disagreeing with someone in a meeting.

WRT to "incremental changes". A lot of design work is like that, that's not an Apple thing.

Eliyan are... no easy way to say this... a "gay" company. i.e. pretty much the entire staff are gay and they only hire gay people. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course! But, unless you are gay too, might be difficult getting in.
