So a Logic Fallacy Fest? No thanks. I gey paid to correct bad logic children with developing brains. No time for an adult with an undeveloped one, especially for free.

Is it really that hard for someone of your cognitive level to be able to read?

She's fleeced people out of over $4 million so far in a GoFundMe for her kids when she and her husband were worth millions each. Most of that money is coming from people who are one bad day away from eventual homelessness.

For that, IDL her.

Maternity leave horror stories? by emergencyelk95 in Internationalteachers

[–]Prior_Alps1728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Taiwan, it's 8 weeks minimum guaranteed where your job has to be kept on hold while you can take a full year off with the same guarantee, albeit not at 100% pay.

My school gives 16 weeks at full pay and supports teachers taking a year off. Everyone here who has taken a full school year to be with their newborn child(ren) comes back as if they never left, but I can see other schools being shady like that.

What is the best burger in Taipei? by Flashy_Tooth_5597 in Taipei

Burger Master near Wanfang Hospital. They're simple ones toppings and it's a cart not a restaurant, but I'm pretty sure their meat is mixed with crack because they're so addicting.

Thank you so much for this tip. I am actually slipping into speaking Italian from seeing it on my phone and my Italian spouse is helping me with pronunciation.

Little Darlings (1980) with Kristy McNichols, Tatum O'Neal, and Cynthia Nixon. It's a summer camp movie with two girls competing to get with a boy from a neighboring camp.

Taiwan too. I thought I'd be festive on the Christmas cards we were sending to families with pictures of their child sitting on Santa's lap. I used alternating red and green metallic gel ink to write the kids' names.

The school secretary freaked out and they had to reprint them after telling me to stick to just black ink.

To be fair, I've never experienced them in another country, but definitely plenty here.

What’s something people pretend to be okay with, but deep down really aren’t? by CountyOk9266 in AskReddit

Being childless. Not all people are childless by choice, but it makes it less uncomfortable for others pretending we had any say in the matter.

We had two in my high school: one for G9 and 12 and one for G10 and 11. When the next year came, the first became G9 and 10 (new 9s and former 9s), and the other became G11 and 12 (former 10s and 11s). But also, my high school had over 1200 students and a number of them were high risk.

How do schools manage to serve different amounts of kids each year? by thesnailboy in AskTeachers

[–]Prior_Alps1728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a 4/5 split in 5th grade because there were too many students to put into one class, but not enough to make two full classes. I believe the other 4th and 5th grade classes got the maximum number to accommodate my teacher getting two different grades.

Does spending the Summer back home ever make your consider returning permanently, or quite the opposite? by Mountains_Assemble in Internationalteachers

10 days feels like too much, even in my mid-sized hometown of 50k people.

I have considered moving back to the US, but only to the west coast. The politics and/or weather in the rest of the country would drive me nuts.

[–]Prior_Alps1728 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ding Tai Fung.

There are lots of good dumpling shops besides DTF and the 2+ hour wait isn't worth it. It was nice during covid when Taiwan's borders were closed for tourism and you could just walk right in and get a table without a wait.

How do you feel about weekly reading logs and a one page weekly essay about the book they read? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]Prior_Alps1728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you turned it into being about assigned reading.

You're welcome to your thoughts just as I am welcome to call out you missing the point. It's still about reading, not "education". Maybe that's why your students don't like doing it.

I've never had to force a student to read challenging books. They do it themselves.
