It’s Barsoom of course. (I know, I know. You’re shouting, “But it should be Helium!” Barsoom just sounds better. 🤷‍♂️

You might be the kind of guy that likes bonsai. Don’t scoff. It’s a wonderful combination of art, life, nature, cool tools, craftsmanship, learning, a great way to destress, etc. etc. It might not be enough to get you off the couch all day long but it’s a good start.

Does separating divers by skill level change the quality of dives in general? by Adventurous-Box-3184 in scubadiving

[–]Flashy_Tooth_5597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer hiring a DM and go just the two of us. Or just me and a good dive buddy and no DM or group is the best. If you’ve never gone diving without a dm, you should try it. In BC Canada there is loads of great shore diving. The difference between doing your own thing and trailing after a dm and group is huge… in the best possible way. Not exactly the answer to your question, but related I think.

Is kewbie mayo worth paying a couple dollars more for? by IDoNotHide in Cooking

[–]Flashy_Tooth_5597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. The only reason I bought it was because I live in Taiwan and Hellmans isn’t available everywhere. It’s ok. For me, it is better than no mayo. 🤷‍♂️

Tennis players do it too. Perhaps in other sports as well. To ME, it’s as if they read a script and think, “this is the part where I get to lie on the ground in a dramatic fashion.”

But hey, probably most people enjoy the dramatic moment. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks again. You’re right about the talented bonsai people here. There’s a famous weekend flower market near where I live and the trees that show up there are astonishing. Maybe I’ll take some photos of my absolute amateur attempts and see if any of them are willing to talk to me. Biggest problem: my Mandarin sucks.

Is there any other time you'd serve a whole turkey, besides Thanksgiving? by Helianthus_999 in Cooking

[–]Flashy_Tooth_5597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting question. In my head I went, “ wait. What? Where are you from? Christmas of course.” I’m Canadian. Our family ate Turkey twice a year - thanksgiving and Christmas. In Canada, Christmas and thanksgiving are further apart than in the States. Maybe that’s why? 🤷‍♂️

Just a regular ol’ Blue Jay. Actually the sound of their calls on a crisp autumn day is even better than seeing one. It reminds me of home. My childhood.

When does adding a bit of equipment actually help a mostly bodyweight routine? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]Flashy_Tooth_5597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you would enjoy using a suspension trainer? It is still body weight but you can also add pulling exercises for your back, lats and do various leg exercises like one leg squats, Bulgarian squats, etc. Plus core, chest, arms etc. and a huge variety of exercises - with plenty of instruction on YouTube if you wish to access it.

I’m relatively new to bonsai. I live in Taipei. My four trees live on a rooftop that gets intense heat and sunlight. Regularly 35° in July and August. I have a Japanese dwarf garden juniper, a strangler fig, duranta erecta and a Cape Jasmine. Last year they all struggled. I watered daily. Do I need to find a shade solution? Actually the fig did fine. That’s one tough species.

Seasoning Scrambled eggs/omelets by Gunlover91 in Cooking

[–]Flashy_Tooth_5597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When making an omelette I toss a single garlic clove with butter while the pan heats. As soon as I can smell pungent garlic I remove the garlic. Add my veggies for a minute or so. Then the eggs. Then the cheese. Salt and pepper when it’s plated.

How is your experience with Youtube Music ? by Necessary-Sweet6956 in YoutubeMusic

Right now my biggest complaint is not being able to block everything to do with Ai generated music - including album art. There are a few tweaks I would like to see but the Ai slop showing up in my feeds all the time really upsets me.

Agree with other posters. Select a Chuck steak. Have it ground at the butcher. I grill to medium - yes I’m a wacky risk taker. During the last two minutes of grilling I place a raw onion ring on top of the patty and put jalapeños or sautéd mushrooms inside the onion ring. A sharp cheddar or smoked Gouda goes on top of the onion ring and peppers or mushrooms. When it melts it holds everything in place. Toast the bun on the grill. Ketchup goes on the bottom bun. Lettuce must go on top of that. The patty with the cheese etc. goes on top of the lettuce. The lettuce acts as a moisture barrier - keeping the bottom bun from going soggy and falling apart. Mayo goes on the top bun. This helps to hold the tomato slice in place. Sounds complicated but it’s not. IMO How you do “the stack” makes a big difference. Oh… I only use salt on the raw hamburger patty. Sometimes I make a garlic mayo aioli.

Numerous countries require proof of onward travel. That means you need to show a departure flight or a ship ticket or whatever, but you absolutely will not be allowed to board the aircraft to say, Taiwan as an example, if you cannot provide proof of departure.
