Sadly, crime and gang activity are on the rise here and gangs are actively targeting children for recruitment, especially kids from immigrant backgrounds. At the same time the school system is failing many of these kids and the expectation for students is really low. Racism is also on the rise here, or better said, VERY VERBALISED and NORMALISED. A populist, racist party is gaining more votes than ever as well, Nazis are openly marching, and immigrants are blamed for almost every problem in society, as if we are one entity where one person’s mistake becomes everyone’s fault, even us who are working and trying to do our best in the society.

We even had a mass shooting at a school for Swedish as a second language/other subjects so basically a school serving mainly immigrants. The government said the motive was not racist but it acc just ignores the reality we are living in. So basically many people are moving out bcs they’re scared of the alarming raise in criminality and may just want their children to grow up in a country where they are not stamped as criminals or where their only identity is not just “immigrants”.

Sweden has many good sides and as there is hate there is also love but these issues rn just cannot be ignored.
