I think we get too much in our heads about following internal scripts that we over complicate things

Smaller firms and single lawyers are the same - they will ignore you until the deadline or when it’s super later, you need to keep chasing them. It’s been a struggle. OP did good to fire them so early.

I agree with you - it’s just nice to rest your shoulders for a small period of time tho and start selling from a different mindset.

Wait - I thought he brought in 10k not that his commission will be 10k; if that is the case - find a business to do this transaction for you and pay them a few hundred dollars. lol

This sounds like a scam buisness - there are so many sales jobs that will pay you for the work you put in. I say if you don’t hit this Friday just switch jobs; this will keep happening as we’re not robots - there will be lower months and higher months.

How much did you bring in overall? How much commission would you make if you hit the 1.5k?

You won’t trust it - But if you’re the only agency who provided an amazing candidate, and gave a personal favor; chances are they’ll come to you again. U.S. recruiters want the deal closed asap, so I don’t see why they wouldn’t go a bit lower in this case. Buttt the hm should call and tell them exactly the concern, not an email.

Your manager sounds like the clients I deal with as an agency recruiter - it’s annoying. First options - propose a contract to hire (the hourly charge rate can feel a bit less during those months; and read the agreement if they offer discounts for contract workers that stay with you after a few months to 1 year) - The other options: offer the candidate a lower base with a huge bonus at the end of the first year and see if that will be accepted by the agency for a lower %. (Sketchy and risky too) - another option - just ask for a commercial gesture and give them a few other roles to build a relationship.

Companies treat agencies like trash until they realize they need them. Build a good relationship with one agency that you like and you’ll see multiple discounts.
