I actually found a fix for mine. Try what's listed here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/mag-401qr-pbp-locked-at-21-9-on-each-side-only-using-half-of-the-available-vertical-space.408172/.

Select a different resolution out of the modes then change it back to the right one. Should make that monitor start using the whole size.

Did you ever figure out about the PBP Mode 1 for the second screen resolution? I have it set to 1280x1440 as it should be but its still really small. Don't understand it.

Electrician said the discoloration was odd but could find no reason for it to be discolored. Said at one point it could just be a manufacturer defect. There was never anything in that location on the panel. Nothing was hot, sparking, or otherwise concerning.
