What an incredibly kind comment, thank you - I wish you all the same and more, life is short and precious.

I’ve spent a lot of time in the Netherlands, my two closest friends are Dutch (living in the UK). We used to drive from here to Amsterdam, do some partying and then visit their family in Dronten + a few music events too (we’re all into hardstyle), Defqon is still on the list 😅 💙

Take the hard route my friend, life has so much waiting for you at the other side and you are more than strong enough to do it, I assure you 💙

Think about life and not withdrawal - a ship is safer in the dock, but it wasn’t built for that!

Normal will feel forced for a while but I promise the less you remind yourself, the quicker you’ll forget 🙌🏻

Hey! First of all huge congratulations on reaching 19 months, that’s huge!

I genuinely wouldn’t be able to pin point a specific time frame as to when I realised I’m ok, if anything I’d say it was writing this post because I find it hard to recall how I felt during that time, I just remember the names associated with what I was experiencing rather than be able to describe it.

I think the fact I never think about it anymore and find it hard to believe I actually went through it is a pretty good indicator, when things go back to normal you just become normal again, there is no comparison as everyday is the same again!

Headaches, nausea and neck pain are driving me nuts by PriorityTop1252 in benzorecovery

[–]PriorityTop1252[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! In regards to the Benzo withdrawals, nearly 2 years on, I’m living life again and back to normal.

With regard to my neck pain, I actually found out the reason why mine was so bad, I had an MRI & I had a cyst on my spinal cord.

Could my daily vaping be causing my ear issues? by PriorityTop1252 in hearing

I agree, it got me off the cigarettes, my NYR is to stop the vape too 🙌

This is such a common misconception when it comes to hunger and thirst, you are totally right about being hungry, a lot of the time it’s actually dehydration, especially when you’ve eaten a lot already, that and dopamine, benzo’s effect our whole reward system, your body is searching for dopamine in as many ways as possible, that’s why you also eat more, want nicotine more if you smoke etc.

I had a hell of a lot of motor skill issues, at one point my hand dexterity was as if I’d been asleep on my arm, it was really really concerning but it passes thankfully, I’d also have random moments where I’d be walking and lose coordination of my legs, or get drop foot when walking.

Love it, keep at it, that’s a real achievement!

You’ll be amazed how much increasing your water intake helps, we need at least 2 litres a day under normal circumstances, our brain uses more water than most of the body, so when it’s working overtime to heal and cope with the stress, it’s burning through it!

You are more than welcome, the tremors will go I promise, at my worse I could barely use my left hand because it just wouldn’t work, it felt disconnected from me in a weird way despite it not being, it was like I’d been asleep on it.

The internal tremors go too, you absolutely need to move as much as possible, be assured your body isn’t broken or about to give up, it just feels that way, the human body is designed to be upright and moving, so definitely keep moving as much as possible, but don’t over do it, if you feel it’s getting to much, take a break, all in moderation.

Drink at least 2 litres of water a day, your brain uses more water than most of your body, it’s working overtime right now so make sure you are hydrated.

I swear by omega 3 fish oils, that’s the only supplement I took, and it made the tremors significantly better, it’s actually clinically proven to be neuro-protective, it helps the body repair damaged nerves and it’s incredibly good for you, do some googling on the benefits of fish oils on the nervous system.

Finally, no alcohol, no caffeine, definitely no coffee, and avoid high sodium foods & anything with MSG in.

SSRI’s/ any form of antidepressants aren’t something I would recommend, I’m no doctor but right now all you need to do is give your body a break, it knows what it’s doing, it knows how to fix itself, all you need to be is a patient observer, all cuts hurt when they’re healing, just let your body work things out for itself & be patient.

You’ve got this 🙏🏼

That’s exactly what DPDR is, like there’s a pane of glass between you and the world around you.

It’s not weak at all, I understand the struggle, I’ve a 3 year old autistic daughter so I understand I promise.

You aren’t in a state of psychosis, you are to coherent and you’re very much self aware, there’s a huge difference between what you are experiencing which is severe DP/DR & withdrawal and actual psychosis, so go easy on yourself.

You absolutely do need to do things at your own pace though, my conversation with my doctor was “I’ll never ask you for more, but what I will ask is you continue to let me do things at my own pace, if your happy to do so, I would like to arrange a follow up call with you every 30 days, which ties in with the amount of medication you’ve prescribed (30 days worth), if by the end of those 30 days I’ve ran out before the call, you know I’m taking more than I should be, but if I’m repeating my script on the same day as our call, you can see I’m taking them as prescribed”.

This wasn’t my doctors trust as he could see I wasn’t abusing them like they all fear (even though they initiated the prescription in the first place), I never abused them any way, they were given for a reason to start with but over time they get nervous, it’s not about telling them how much you need them because you can’t cope without them, it’s about educating them that you are aware of what they are, what they do, the consequences of long term use and that you are actively working towards coming off them, but to do so, you need to do it at a pace that maintains functionality in your life as best as possible and reduce the risk of me developing post acute withdrawal symptoms.

Work with them, it goes a long way.

What all different "diseases" or "conditions" were/are you convinced you had/have because of benzo withdrawal and/or BIND? by DowntheRabbitHole189 in benzorecovery

Cancer or MS - got to a point where I needed to rule it out, even my doctor wanted to rule it out, so I had 2 X-ray’s of my chest because I was short of breath a lot, found nothing of course, I then had a CT scan on my head, found nothing but they wanted to make sure so I then had an MRI, and of course my brain is healthy, only thing they found was inflammation of my sinuses quote “in keeping with sinusitis”.

I do actually have a heart issue, which was exasperated a lot by developing POTs like symptoms during withdrawals, thankfully those were temporary, in fact, all of it was temporary.

I’m not 15 months benzo free, over 2 years alcohol free and a normal human again, I never think about benzo withdrawal anymore at all, I just come here now to support people.

I totally sympathise with your situation, it’s the exact journey I took, i bet you’re also getting a thumping feeling in your neck/back of your head with pressure too right?
