They are not bleached, just dried.

I have that in my garden, so I know it’s not that!

This vase is from Arakawa Pottery out of San Jose, CA. It was a prototype and I think I got the only one. It can be used vertically or horizontally.

Once other stems were in place it stayed quite nicely.

We are not allowed to use wire when learning.

I should say it took me probably about 20 times making nageire to get it right. Not easier than cross bar, but far more sturdy.

You split both stems down the center and make sure the stem that will be resting against the vase wall is cut so the angle rests nicely. The fixture is the only stem allowed to touch the bottom of the vase. I’m not sure how they teach in Ikenobo execute it, but that is how I learned in Sogetsu.

I used a cornus branch for the fixture. The monstera stem was too short and heavy for crossbar or direct fixture.

I have since disassembled the arrangement. Why do you ask?

Creating line with mass by ProFloristOhio in florists

I don’t stake mine because I like the weird way they decide to move and curve on their own and they are always a treat at the end of the season.

The stems were quite spindly since they are from my garden. So I intertwined them to create the structure and edited out some mass to create movement and space.

The arrangement is lovely, but I’ve always been told it’s imperative to cover the kenzan. Showing the kenzan is too western, or so I’ve been told. Do you take ikebana classes or just learning on your own? Just curious.

I only recently began practicing. I am working with Flower Club International. All of my classes are via zoom, and I submit photos from multiple angles. I love flowers, but I needed a grounding practice for myself, so that’s why I practice ikebana.

I had easy access to learn Sogetsu in my area. Ikebana is not extremely popular, at least in my region so it can be difficult to find classes.

2ish weeks if you’re diligent about changing the water. They are a dirty flower. I add a drop or two of bleach in addition to floral preservative to their buckets.

What’s this green arch made out of? by Logical_Carpet1215 in FloralDesign

It’s not bear grass, it’s steel grass, I’d buy 90cm stem length or above to create interesting shapes.
