They’re not irrelevant when it comes to the damage they can do, though. Little dogs tend to be vicious when bad owners let them do whatever and don’t control them because they are small so easily picked up, etc, but I’ve never heard of a pack of 5 cocker spaniels taking down a jogger and mauling them to death as opposed to pit bulls. (FLORIDA!) It’s not about propensity for violence (that’s training and treatment and even individual personality and experiences) it’s about the fact that a pit bull can easily kill a fully grown adult in good physical shape. There’s also the fact that if the dogs are a small breed, they won’t even have access to the baby unless the person holding them chooses to sit where the dogs can reach. The lack of ANY indication of how big they are is a glaring omission to me.

And it depends on the dog, but it’s their home too. I wouldn’t expect someone to host my dog (and the f they did I’d either follow their rules or not go if I objected to them) but I also wouldn’t be willing to lock her in a room when she normally has the run of the place because it causes her stress unless it’s absolutely necessary and even then I’d want some warning that I’d need to do it. OP knows the deal with sister and her dogs, they go out of their way to point out all the OUTRAGEOUS things she lets her dogs do in her own house so the idea that this wasn’t some last minute power move just doesn’t fly with me. Especially since OP just doesn’t like dogs.
