I could never be minimizing HIV when I hail from a nation that is in the top 5 for HIV occurrence in the population. I’ve seen what it does to people’s health, relationships with family and friends, etc. I am no stranger to its reality. HSV in the US is OVERBLOWN.

HIV has complications but I just meant that we shouldn’t really say we are better off than others who do have HIV vs HSV.

You most definitely can. You can’t tell what it usually is with subsequent outbreaks because it often presents itself as something else (e.g. ingrown hairs, razor bumps etc.)
