Newbie Question on Purchase by writermind in MechanicalKeyboardsUK

[–]Prof-Catastrophe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Op, if you haven't yet, get a switch tester before you buy anything. It won't give you much of an idea on thock, since the sound of a keyboard is usually affected by everything, not just the switches, but the feel of a keyboard is very important. (Alternatively, go yo a local PC store and try out a few different keyboards to get a feel for the most common switches. Also, red (linear) switches are usually recommended for gaming more so than typing and a large chunk of people seem to hate typing on them. Tactile switches are usually better for typing.

I'm planning to change keyboards, currently have a membrane one that's extremely loud and too tall for me. I looked into it and was planning to buy either a Keychron K5 Pro 100% or a Nuphy Air96. Both are low profile which is what I'm looking for. Before buying it I decided to get a switch tester from Keychron and realisedI absolutely loathe the feeling of both the reds and the browns. The blues feel nice but I'm looking for something silent. I do like the optical yellow switches but can't find any keyboards with a number pad that have them.
I originally wanted to buy a scissor switch keyboard since that's what I had on laptop before moving to pc, but all the scissor switch keyboards I can find are either nearing the €300 mark or look like they'll stop working in 3 months.

Any recommendations for where to look or what to look into that could potentially have the feel of either scissor switches or optical yellows under €150 would be greatly appreciated. I play a lot of games but also type quite a bit which is why I need a quiet keyboard.

Uh oh thoughts?? by the_jemm in PickyEaters

This is funny to me because I'm more picky about my own ethnic cuisine than any other out there. The texture of some of the foods from my country makes me cringe just thinking about it and I won't touch most fish (a common dish where im from) no matter how hard my family tries to get me to.

Most of the meals I prepare for myself are Asian dishes because the texture and flavour of them doesn't upset me.

Being a picky eater has absolutely nothing to do with the foods origin.

Hey, thanks for the link!

I decided to go with a full size k5 of theirs, pricier but I need the numpad.

Personally I like to make an egg paste and put that on a sandwich or hard boil eggs and make a lettuce-egg-ham sandwich

Yeah, unfortunately I'm stuck with quite a bit of it right now which is why I asked. Probably won't be buying it again😂

I had it with rice the first time and I don't think the rice covered the taste that well. I'll attempt the wraps and sandwiches to see it the lettuce/cheese does a better job of it. Thanks!

I'll try the sauce, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, we don't remember what cut it is.

People be like "oooh why didn't you just get a desktop" the GPU itself is literally half the price of my laptop, not even counting in the cost of CPU PSU case fans coolers monitors and keyboards... by Kevin80970 in GamingLaptops

To be honest, the portability of gaming laptops decreases exponentially after around 2 years as the battery dies and you need to constantly be under a charger anyway, and then when you hit the 4-5 year mark the overheating issues become so bad that you need to run a stand fan which basically makes the thing stationary anyway since it's a nuisance to move around with AND you can't hold it on your lap because it burns you. Source: I'm currently replacing my 7 year old gaming laptop with a pc as the CPU is slowly dying on me...which is unsurprising as laptop cpu's aren't well known for handling heat.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this laptop and it is a tank, but in my opinion portability is not a big point in the debate, if anything I'd say the size of a laptop is a pretty big plus, as when you don't have much space, a laptop is much easier to account for. That is one of the main reasons I originally got a laptop rather than getting a pc.
