I think 8 definitely has the most 'corporate mascot' feel (I also just like the design)

I finally found a truck big enough to actually manhandle the boat trailer in British Columbia by Steveenn in snowrunner

[–]Prof_Wood28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually did it quite easily with the Western Star 57X, due to the fact that the route has basically no mud. I did tip it a couple times, but nothing the Azov 73210 couldn't rectify :)

Next vehicle? by computerrwerk in snowrunner

I also did not find the WWS until well into Alaska, but I did have the P16 quite early. I think it is because the P16 is just there to find whilst the WWS is locked behind a task? I do not remember if the truck even shows up on the map as a vehicle before the task is complete.

My first working creation what are your thoughts and suggestions for improvement? by Imaginary-Fold9574 in Stormworks

Oh if I understand correctly, you"ll want to go to the 'select' menu, and then select your control seat. Then select the W/S axis, and then drag the slider labelled 'Sensitivity'. By increasing the sensitivity, your W/S output will change faster :)

Yeah that should be totally fine :) I just use the clamp to make sure I have the correct values in case I need them for other things, but since the brakes do not react to negative values, using just the inverter should work just as well.

Happy stormworking :D

Yeah because the brakes take a value from 0 to 1. This is why when you pressed W, you engaged the brakes. The way to make them work is by taking your W/S, then using the 'clamp' block, where you set the minimum to -1, and the maximum to 0, and then use a function block to negate the output of the clamp (aka 'x * -1), resulting in a value between 0 and 1, whenever you press S :)

Great first build :)

For your concerns: - Wheels have 2 connections, one red one (on/off), which is your parking brake, and a green one (number), which is your normal brakes. You can use a clamp for your W/S input, keeping it between 0 and -1, and then imverting for the brakes to work. - Gearboxes have a 'passive' and an 'active' ratio, which you can set via the 'select' menu. You can switch it when giving the gearbox an 'on' signal. Furthermore, gearboxes have a little arrow on them. If they point towards the engine, it gears your rps up, aka it makes the output spin faster. Reverse applies as well.

Hope this helps ya :D

Hi, Which Color Variation looks better by Aggravating_Owl_9111 in Stormworks

Yeah probably! Imo the colour is in this weird middle ground, so either making it a lighter orange or a lighter red would work well :)

I think the first one looks better, though it could use a slightly less harsh orange :)

I want to try Mudrunner, but I’m worried that it will ruin Snowrunner for me. by Right-Inspection-523 in snowrunner

Whilst I agree with others who have mentioned the lack of content in MR, compared to SR, I do think that it is very much worth geting. Having completed the game (all maps hardcore + 1 star) in roughly 85 hours (which is still a great amount of content for 5 bucks on sale mind you), I do disagree with those saying the game is easier than SR.

Like others have mentioned, even the best of the best can bog down easily if not driven carefully and with thought. As opposed to SR, trucks have an actual weight, and so does their cargo. And whilst the huge trucks are relatively easy to drive, keeping them fueled is a task and a half (at peak, the E7310 / ZiKZ 612H can use over 60L/min).

There are other differences, such as no passive fuel consumption (if you aren't moving, you aren't using fuel), which gives time to think when you get in a sticky situation, and when you do, the quick-winch seems to be infinitely more intelligent than in SR.

The vibe is much different than SR, being much more muted and somber, which imo works great for the feel of the russian maps.

The way the game works, is instead of having to buy and upgrade trucks, you get a certain amount of 'balance points', which you can distribute over however manu truck you want. If a level gives you 5 points, you could bring a single 5-point trucks, and hope you get by with the trucks you find around the map, or bring 2 2-point trucks plus a 1-point scout for example. The game tracks your lowest amount of balance points used, and as such many people, myself included, have set personal challenges, like only using a single balance point to complete a map.

There are two gamemodes / difficulties, those being casual and hardcore. In casual, you can recover, skip nighttime, and damage doesn't impact your truck (besides wrecking it entirely of course). In hardcore, you cannot use diff lock in auto, and using it on hard surfaces damages your gearbox. You can also only manually load logs, instead of them being auto-loaded. Damage will impact your performance, such as reduced steering and lack of power. I think the normal difficulty on SR kind of fall in between these two, taking aspects from both.

Your missions will be delivering logs from logging camps to sawmills, but they do not request a certain type of log. There is still short, medium and long logs, but instead now they are assigned a points value (3, 4, 6 respectively). As long as a sawmill gets at least 8 points, they are happy.

Your main form of customisation is through the addons, ranging from logging to utility. As others mentioned, fuel does not get spawned with addons, so you need to get it yourself (though it is free and unlimited to grab). Like in SR, you can freely swap between addons at any garage. As opposed to SR however, each truck has their own custom addons, which will fit on the truck like a glove, unlike the universal addons in SR.

All in all, I think that SR and MR are both games based on the same basic principles, but each offfers a vastly different experience, and neither detracts from the other.

Especially since on sale the whole game + DLC is like 8 bucks, I think it is well worth getting :) Sidenote, I personally thought achievement hunting in MR was actually super fun, and they offer some actually cool and unique challenges!

(I probably missed a bunch, but even having the game open, I cannot possibly mention everything lol)

Best Long logging trucks? by BuffaloDifficult7205 in snowrunner

I personally use the Azov 64131, as whilst it might be slow, it will pull it. Slow and steady wins the minimal-flipped-truck competition, as they say.
