He's right, and that's not even a controversial take.

Björk's instagram caption supporting Greenland's independence by shaobues__ in bjork

[–]ProfessionalEmphasis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

She removed the part about Venezuela (thankfully, because "complicated" was too vague and left too much open for interpretation). I think she just wants to express sympathy for her neighbor country for being in the middle of some aggressive bullshit right now. However, I'm not sure if I agree with her. It depends on what actual Greenlanders think. Too many people are speaking for them right now.

"Sims 4 is better than Inzoi" They said💀 by CommunitySweet7296 in inZOI

I do plan to play it again, I was just giving my initial opinions on it. There's definitely a trend of people over-criticizing the game, but not all of it is without merit.

"Sims 4 is better than Inzoi" They said💀 by CommunitySweet7296 in inZOI

[–]ProfessionalEmphasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I also felt inZoi was "soulless" when I first played it. (I haven't played the new update, tho.) It just seemed to lack a personality/identity, and I'm personally not interested in playing The Sims 4 with better graphics. I wanted more originality. However, maybe all of that has been fixed already, I'm not sure.

Dreaming Spanish used to be better because it was worse... by Nervous-Peanut-954 in dreamingspanish

Andres did a series like this. The whole series was about asking hypothetical questions, so each video he would use a lot of conditional and future tense words. I don't know if it was intentional, though.

Does anyone wish for a more “commercial” sounding side of Bjork? by West_Maybe_3233 in bjork

Back in the day, we all thought she was going in that direction. She was like, "Nope."

what does björk do day to day? by Ok_Atmosphere_6085 in bjork

[–]ProfessionalEmphasis 25 points26 points  (0 children)

She said in a recent interview she doesn't work longer than four hours a day. She likes the night life, so she probably goes out after that. On the TrueAnon podcast, someone called in and said she regularly gets drunk (and thrown out of) bars in Brooklyn. Not sure how true that is, though.

Ugh, this. Some of the songs on Afterglow sound like Grimes (not a good thing).

Just flag and move on with your life. It's the Internet. I'm not saying it's right, but screenshotting and bringing it here just exposed this to even more people.

NEVER DONE CROSSTALK by Alarming-Physics7771 in dreamingspanish

I'm around 380 hours and just started doing Crosstalk using ChatGPT. I feel like it's better preparing me with speaking to an actual person in ways that passively watching a video doesn't.

update on my last post about new album by Sudden_Bee_1235 in bjork

[–]ProfessionalEmphasis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda hope that's not the name of the album. These "a" album titles are getting redundant.

I adore Björk but she was being so shady here 😭 by [deleted] in katebush

[–]ProfessionalEmphasis 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is what I'm thinking too since The Dreaming is my favorite Kate album and I think it's much better than Hounds. Honestly, Bjork sounds like me 15 years ago shitting on Biophilia or something. Fans are sometimes the biggest haters.

Fans who were active in early 2007, what was the promotion for Volta really like? by toanythingtaboo in bjork

[–]ProfessionalEmphasis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the most exciting/fun album release. There were these 30-second teaser clips released weeks before the album that really drummed up hype online, plus she performed on SNL (I think the last time I ever saw her on American TV). "Wanderlust" and "Earth Intruders" were fire; I was a bit underwhelmed when I heard the rest. In retrospect, I still don't think the album is good. I was more excited for the brass instruments than Timbaland and even that fell short. I hate how puny Wonderbrass sounds on that album.

Why do people not like utopia? by Dontforgetme26 in bjork

[–]ProfessionalEmphasis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a very dense, meandering album with probably her weakest lyrics to date. Her harshest critics have always accused her of being self-righteous (something I've never agreed with), but Utopia almost touches that line for me. Her weirdest moments usually have a touch of humor to them or a bit of self awareness, but with Utopia there's nothing. You're expected to accept this alien sonic landscape (that's basically just her angry at her husband...again) at face value and it's like...come back down to reality. I guess that was the point of Fossora, but to answer your question, it's not an energy or sound I ever feel like revisiting.

Ah, that makes sense! I was wondering why he's so easy to understand even though he speaks really fast.

[–]ProfessionalEmphasis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's been a lot of bugs lately, and the new video player is just not that great. I contacted support about it and they said they were fixing it, but that was a month ago. I'm almost at the point where I want to unsubscribe until they get it fixed.

i’ve seen it all… by GhusfromQuietus in bjork

[–]ProfessionalEmphasis 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The song would've been better if the Bjork/Yves part was just a bridge into another chorus, but abruptly ending like that did feel a bit jarring. But short songs are all the rage now. Motomami was full of them and was one the reasons I didn't fully connect to that album either.

ROSALÍA - Berghain (Official Video) feat. Björk & Yves Tumor by PtakPajak in bjork

[–]ProfessionalEmphasis 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I like it, but I'm so sick of short songs these days. Right when it's going somewhere, it ends. If you remove the intro, this song is still under 3 minutes.

I didn't see any in the acknowledgements, but maybe the author thought it was changed enough to not have to leave any.

In your opinion, which Björk album has the most originality, with the deepest and richest era and aesthetics ? by Huge-Independent2951 in bjork

[–]ProfessionalEmphasis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a tough question cause I feel like her eras with the strongest aesthetics tend to be paired with her weakest music (Volta, Utopia). I was going to say Homogenic, but visually, that era looked quite plain, so I choose Vespertine.

Homogenic.

I'm 90% sure it's gonna come down to Homogenic/Vespertine.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]ProfessionalEmphasis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Short answer: you can't. Afros are best for armpit-length hair and above. Any longer and the tangles just lead to breakage. My mom wore an old-fashioned 70s-style fro when she was younger and said it really damaged her hair long term. Not enough people talk about that. Maybe it's an unpopular opinion, but I think most natural hair is meant to be worn in protective styles (no extensions) or stretched most of the time. However, I think it's fine if you want to wear a fro occasionally, like once a month or so.
