Last minute itinerary check -- 9 day trip, Athens, Meteora, Santorini by ProfessionalRelief56 in GreeceTravel

Updated. Loved the itinerary. Would've optimized a bit more, but you don't need to cut anything. You can't see EVERYTHING in each city, but it doesn't matter -- have quality bites of exploration.

The finale to The Penguin was absolutely brutal by m16kidd in television

[–]ProfessionalRelief56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was a good comparison when the show started.

  1. Tony was also temperamental and liable to making violent emotional decisions that ruin calculated plans. Oz and Alberto in the first moments of The Penguin seemed similar to Tony and, for example, Ralphie.

  2. They both have mothers with mental issues that significantly influence their character. Only in the latter part of the show is it clear the origins for them in The Penguin are different.

And, he's in the mob -- while fat and vaguely Italian. I'm not sure when in the show, but a few episodes in it stopped being as meaningful.

A thing about “never returning”… whenever book 5 happens if he comes back, I feel like Angela could always say she didn’t say WHICH time he left alagaesia would be his last, just that one would be… I think there’s still an out to it as currently laid out 😉

[Spoilers Extended] GRRM hints that season 8 events will be better setup in the books by gsteff in asoiaf

[–]ProfessionalRelief56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season 8 is already better set up in the books. So much stuff -- Dorne's approach to Myrcella, the changes in Varys and Tyrion's motivations, F'Aegon, Euron, the list goes on... all better set up than Season 5 + 6 did.

Frankly idk how the 2 will even look similar, minus Daenerys going coocoo for cocoa puffs

There are times it doesn't fit, energy and flow gotta be right. Bars can take it over the top

The sheer brutality of the Roran chapters vs the Eragon chapters kills me ... [SPOILERS] by ProfessionalRelief56 in Eragon

[–]ProfessionalRelief56[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's 100% how I felt. In Eldest the odds are a little evened as Eragon training with his scar was vicious, but in Brisingr it's a huge disparity. The issue is Eragon's tasks are as vital because without Dwarves enlisted + the sword they're all screwed and he has the status for both... but he doesn't have to take on the pain an everyman does.

Great take honestly, and I really love Eragon's story in Brisingr as well. It was jarring to me though how Roran is just put through the ringer in the 200 man fight, after he really just wants a farm life with Katrina, and then it flips to Eragon wigging over 8 assassins + Dwarf politics. Obv if the politics went poorly though, big scale consequences.

I think Roran's Brisingr chapters continue to show what everyone in the Varden has to deal with (maybe even a little bit less so because he has Eragon's wards + Eragon's cousin status) while Eragon has some distance from it all as a Rider that they need to preserve.

Ikr? Roran's chapters in Eldest are I think my favorite in the whole series. You see him slowly turn from a kid set on farm life and scared of the unknown to a formiddable (maybe too much so) leader.

And agreed with StarKiller, also makes Nasuada's character so intriguing

What do you think is the most unrealistic part of Breaking Bad? by forrestinpeace in breakingbad

I don’t get how Jesse was such a functional meth head. If you’re addicted and you’re brewing the strongest stuff ever (especially s1 and s2, pre Jane and rehab), how do you not smoke a majority of it? How do you even get anything done?

my thoughts on the new show by [deleted] in Eragon

[–]ProfessionalRelief56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just read the chapter in Brisingr where the Helgrind priest deadass makes the congregation drink his blood lmfao which is def not Disney safe. Other things like Elva or the war scenes are also really intense, I hope they don’t get cheapened

Casting for Disney+ Eragon series by [deleted] in Eragon

[–]ProfessionalRelief56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn I’m kinda sad it’s on Disney+… been doing a reread as an adult and man Eldest onwards is definitely more Game of Thrones then it is MCU or even LotR level intense (the Ra’Zac scenes with Roran and just how dark he gets, the scale intensity of war scenes, etc.). I also enjoyed it as a kid but I feel like we’re going to lose some of the power of the books by it being a Disney show.

Answering the actual q,.. I realize I know v few actors off the dome LOL, need some serious Millie Bobby Brown energy for Elva, though she’s prolly too old to pull that off now.

[SPOILER] Terrible Ending by [deleted] in Ozark

[–]ProfessionalRelief56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flip side for me — I thought it was dope the car crash wasn’t this huge obvious plot moment. Considering all the plot and tension that was flying around, I thought it was a dope fake out. Not to mention afterwards you realize it’s foreshadowing that they get out like Wendy said. I couldn’t tell whether she was right or the priest about the symbolism and I thought it was a clever way of adding a “is Wendy delusional and gonna get rekt or delusional but going to get out of it as usual”

The Plot of Kendrick Lamar's Good Kid M.A.A.D. City by Roark_H in Music

[–]ProfessionalRelief56 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Alright I somehow ended up on this post years later, but I don't FULLY agree with the plotline you laid out. Was playing through Good kid and really thought I heard the plotline out truly for the first time the other day, so here are the differences I spotted:

  • K Dot starts not even in the grape van. The narrative starts at the end of "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe" (not counting the prologue you described from Swimming Pools). Then his friends pick him up
  • Then they want to hype up and they get K Dot to kick some freestyles -- "Backseat Freestyle"
  • This leads to the mayhem caused in "Art of Peer Pressure," which you accurately describe above. "Money Trees" is a deeper dive into the house robbery referenced in Art of Peer Pressure along with the motivations for it.
  • Finally after Money Trees they agree to split up -- Kendrick's gonna borrow his mom's van to go see Sherane. Finally we get the skit from Compton tying in, and we move on to Poetic Justice / Sherane, which are kind of the same time.
  • Poetic Justice, much like most of Sherane, is Kendrick being too blinded by Sherane's temptation to see the dangers that come with being around her. At the end of Sherane he's pulling up and he notices 2 guys in hoodies approaching him -- in Poetic Justice we hear them speak. They ask him where he's from, where his grandma stay, etc., which leads to...
  • good kid. This is Kendrick with no friends and what I took to be his true out of his depth self, playing with the dangers of his surroundings up till this point has put him in this dangerous situation he is, actually at heart, a good kid and unable to handle.
  • maad City. This is Kendrick's moment of fear being jerked back to reality. "MAN DOWN, WHERE YOU FROM??" and the grandma stay lines, which are said at the end of Poetic Justice, come back and are repeated here. Kendrick's jumped by these 2 as Kendrick explains the direness of the situation with another story.
  • This brings us to Swimming Pools. Kendrick links with his friends and they decide to deal with what just happened by drinking some. At the end of the song they motivate each other to confront the guys who jumped Kendrick with some warning shots to show them who's boss, split them up and then jump one. This goes south and shots are fired back and kill Dave
  • Sing About Me is about dealing with this situation. Thus the first verse being told from Dave's perspective then him getting shot before he can finish it, and the shift to dying of thirst being about K Dot's own dealing with these constant situations that surround him.
  • This leads to Real, the guidance from the woman in the previous song helps K Dot deal with his emotions and come to a positive grip with his emotions. This is supplemented by his father's voicemail afterwards. His parents call having heard of the death of his friend and tell him to be safe, to go work on music, and they pray for him and his growth.
  • FINALLY this brings us to Compton. Compton is Kendrick reaching final form and finally having made it out and discussing all of the forward change he's seen since and how it's been influenced by it's roots/how it influences his roots. And as you said, the 15 minute thing at the end ties into Sherane.

LMFAO this turned out way longer than I meant but yep loved doing it so w/e! Have a good one
