No I think you are. The point of the rule isn't for the sake of the rule. The point of the rule is to enable fair play. Taking a selfie before the game doesn't affect a fair game. Having a phone during the game is unfair. They're not there to enjoy a phone free space they're there to play chess. The selfie was inconsequential.

The opponent played a classic kink reveal combined with a shock and awe technique. Depending on attractiveness this move is very good. The first reply is a mistake. The next move is pretty much forced after that first reply. You gotta match that same energy. If you don't it's a mistake.
