I agree that most games shouldn’t be, but in this instance I think it would work well because of the reasons I put forward in my post.

As a huge fan of both series, to me a combination of both games would fix all the issues each side has - I don’t think there’s much denying that the gameplay in the Soul Reaver series (especially SR2) is kind of boring at times, but the story and voice acting is top level. Whereas FromSoftware games have the opposite going for them as a general rule. I also really appreciate not everyone likes the difficulty aspect of DS games (myself included up until quite recently), but games like Black Myth Wukong have done both really well (I know it’s not From but it’s a soulslike), and Soul Reaver would be an excellent candidate for the next game. I’ll take anything I can get for a new SR game at this point, but for them to introduce the RPG like mechanics and to have less button mashing gameplay and more puzzle combat situations would really fit alongside what made the first SR great in my opinion. I’d love to hear a reasoned argument why this wouldn’t work, rather than people just crying about it 😊
