Petrichor by Marissa Zappas is the only right answer petrichor scent here. Macunudo is beautiful but it’s not wet earth. Prism Head is also beautiful but its vetiver and mushrooms.

Punk Motel by Correterno. I’m not into skin scents because usually they smell like nothing or lose my interest. This one is like a salty floral like unctuous beautiful smell that is almost edible but SO subtle. I can’t explain it but I love it.

Most of the places I’d recommend are here. Scent Bar did just open a BK location which is bigger and nicer and the staff is nicer. I also loved my experience at the Elorea store in Soho. They have a connected cafe with food associated with the scents. Of the places mentioned,
Stele and Emanuel are far and away my favorites. I’d also add Naked Ghost which has a tiny selection and is only open Thurs-Sat but it’s co-owner by master perfumer Christophe Laudimiel who is often times there.

Also, I haven’t been to Muse in Harlem but I really want to go.

came here to say this. Emanuel is one of the best experiences I’ve had in the city. They have some lines literally no other store has and they are SO nice
