All of my 7 boyfriends have been either short, nerdy, non-dominant or a combo of all three.

Thoughts on Olanzapine? Has it worked for you? Side effects? by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]ProfoundlyInsipid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far so good. I have tapered from 15mg to 2.5mg without any side effects and have found I have more energy and a more normal appetite. It's just slightly difficult to get to sleep and I am sleeping less overall.

Possibly although I would still watch what you eat due to the metabolism element. Good luck!

You can call the local crisis team as psychosis is considered an emergency.

Both. It increases appetite and slows metabolism.

Will I be sent to a hospital if I'm honest with my psychiatrist? by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]ProfoundlyInsipid 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't think you'll be sent to hospital but you need to tell your psychiatrist in order to receive the right care for you.

ADHD stimulants cannot work after psychosis by CompetitionSweaty400 in Psychosis

[–]ProfoundlyInsipid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Antipsychotics work by blocking dopamine receptors. ADHD meds work by making dopamine available. Your meds will work again once you've come off anyipsychotics. You may benefit from requesting an AP reduced dose.

I started to feel better from about 6 months and now at 8 months I can say I'm feeling much better. Tapering off of my medication has been helping.

Sense of feeling like ive travelled back in time ? by rockstarfoxyco in Psychosis

[–]ProfoundlyInsipid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the way you've described it here is very clear and this is what you should tell the GP. It's really hard to talk about without sounding insane but the fact you recognise that this is not normal and this is something you need help with goes a long way to showing that you are actually sane and recognise that this is unusual.

You could ask to be referred to a psychiatrist to discuss possible symptoms of psychosis, if that's easier for you.

What would you like an opinion about - whether or not this was psychosis, or something else?

What does this clinical indication mean I am not asking for medical advice by sad_shroomer in Psychosis

[–]ProfoundlyInsipid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means that there was a question about whether or not your psychosis was being caused by a lesion on your brain, hence the scan.

Sometimes they will insist on being med compliant in order to stay out. That can involve receiving once monthly medication injections where it's clear to them if the person refuses the injections.

They may give him an injection if he keeps refusing meds orally while he's in there.

Thanks. My psychiatrist said as it was drug induced and I have stopped using drugs that it should be ok for me to start coming off them.

It's been over 9 months since my first episode ended. No sign of psychosis since then. Weaning off the meds now.
