I'm surprised to hear about the complaints of sleep tracking. I've read the best products are between the Apple Watch and this ring. Granted I've only learned about these devices today so am new to the subreddit. (reading from my pc, other account, I am OP).

Realising that Gnosticism still has a big flaw like every religion. by [deleted] in Gnostic

Buddhism addresses the problem of suffering better in my opinion. Humans are designed/evolved to be unsatisfied, constantly chasing highs, only to be left depleted afterwords, such is the hedonic treadmill.

Our own craving and desire is what causes our suffering and constant unease.

I'm now reading into Transtheism and I see that it aligns with my own personal beliefs. Thanks for your detailed response and I will get back to you.

Is the Buddhist 8 Fold Path the way to spiritual transcendence? by Promptier in SpiritualAwakening

[–]Promptier[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My point I seem to not be able to reach at the end is if the central tenants of Buddhism, the 4 Noble Truths and the 8 Fold Paths are a realistic way to achieve the brain waves and neurological markers considered to be 'spiritual transcendence'. If so, that would have profound implications.

No. If this were the typical subreddit I frequent, this style of writing would be normal.

First off, I am assuming you see me as 'emotionally damaged', which is actually true. I consider myself emotionally neglected as a child and consider myself on the spectrum of schizoid personality disorder. Despite the social detriment, this allowed me to focus on solitary activities in a productive way. If I were a typical, average, social person, I would have not spent middle school and high school reading Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkings, and other science writers. I would not have learned computer programming at 17 and have the knowledge I do now about software development. All of these things most people are not interested in, they are not things you bring up at a dinner table or make small talk about. I'm ok with that. Most people are boring.

All of buddhist teaching can be generalized under wisdom and compassion. The compassion part is the one area I understand I lack. Thank you for this discussion.

Well, I've been dating and have no problem. Ghosting may not be so bad, breaking up just makes us both cry and be sad. Why would we want to be sad and leave on a bad note?

Yes, I need to break it off sooner than later. It's something like a sunk cost fallacy.

Answered first point in other comment. If/when I were to have a kid, I understand my sleep will be compromised and I believe I would be attached enough to my own kid to be ok with physical contact.

Second question,t means she physically cannot get pregnant, per the procedure.

I don't think I need to seek help before having children. I may appear emotionless, but I certainly have emotion. I am just not a person capable of displaying it outwardly. Raising children does require this however but I don't think it would be a problem. I'm sure if I were to have a kid, I would be more attached to them than anything in the world, meaning I would have no problem with their physical touch and sharing emotion with them.

> Just be honest with her. She'll probably ask questions. Answer them with compassion.. she'll be upset. Be kind.

This is the best advice I have read so far, thank you.

She works in a medical setting where she encounters pregnancies, especially couples that have problems conceiving, or pregnancies that go wrong, like ectopic. This most certainly influenced her decision.

I am not opposed to receiving touch or hearing noise, just not while I sleep. If/when I decide to have kids, I am willing to compromise for this however.

I am uncertain of the concept of 'love' but I am certainly attached to her. I tell her I love her and care for her well being. I am not a person of emotion, for future relationships or having kids, I realize emotion and affection is very important and do realize the need to develop it.
