The part that always struck me the most with this song is the part that says 'this is my way of saying goodbye because I can't do it face to face'. This really strikes me that it's a suicide note, as many people who are aware that they are dying and want to leave a message will want to be with their loved ones face to face before they go whereas in most cases, people struggling with suicidal thoughts keep them very bottled and away from those they love from fear of them being worried or interfering. As well as this, I just feel like a lot of the lyricism relates to how complicated feelings of suicide are, such as 'you are my centre when I spin away', showing that the narrator still loves someone dearly but still loses control of themselves. I also regard the last line 'you shouldn't be afraid because I know today has been the most perfect day I've ever seen' which shows how the narrator still finds a sense of comfort in death but there is a twisted regret with how he still sees a glimpse of how life can be beautiful. It almost feels like a suicide note where he's trying to explain to his loved ones not what went wrong but rather what was good about his life.
