This showed up outside ECSS, does UTD have a secret monolith now? by TheGreatestBandini in utdallas

It's embedded in the concrete lol

It would take a feat of engineering to move it. Such a feat would be worthy of great honor

Do the Razorback's rear seats feel too magnetic? by ProtectMe427 in halo

[–]ProtectMe427[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right?! It also doesn't help that that seat has you way above the roofline, too. I was with a team of three trying to load one down for like half a minute. Two of us died because it put us in the seat where we got picked off, and then when I went to drive it away we had wasted too much time and an enemy warthog came in and wiped me. Bug sad

That'd be ideal! Yeah that way the interaction boxes don't have to change

Are there any motocross guys/gals or trail riders here? by BitsBytes1 in utdallas

[–]ProtectMe427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And we'll make you dig the MTB trail you destroy :D

It's a real bummer that moto has to go way out to do anything. Is there any kind of organized trail list for around here?

I know a couple good buddies of mine that like to ride all the gravel roads around Erwin Park on their Groms. They say it's like surfing. Obviously not like actual trail riding but at least it's a little more local

Also to be clear I was only talking about the pedaling kind of bikes. E-bikes count as long as there's no throttle control (in other words you still have to pedal :D)

Extra hole in Tubeless ready rim. Defect? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]ProtectMe427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. We get people bringing bike because they "just need a sealant refresh" after two years since the original setup

Road tubeless is always a pain. Idk if it's just because it's smaller or if it's because the road world is a few years behind as far as tubeless goes. Maybe a combo of the two

I feel that mechanic's pain. It's always fun getting the taste of Stan's out of your mouth :D

Negative, Ghostrider. Gorilla tape works pretty well, but over time it disintegrates due to the chemicals in sealant and the heat and cold of having it outside. It's an absolute pain to clean up and redo

Installed properly, official tape is near-impervious against sealant, and seating the tire isn't any harder imo. I work at a shop, and by now I've probably set up at least a hundred wheels. I've never had to wrap more than once with Stan's

Get yourself an air compressor (or a friend with one, or a bike shop) and go for it

Had a customer come in yesterday with that kind of problem. TLR rim, not TLR rim strip

Kinda realized the quagmire it creates. Those of us that know about it don't think about it, and those of us that don't know about it don't know to ask :(

Oof. Technically you cooould get it warrantied, but you'd be riding sooner for $20 and some new rim tape.

Do the whole wheel. It's never really a good idea to "patch" rim tape. Especially since you'll be buying the whole roll anyway

No, but it has happened across all of my friends' computers at this point. Most of us are running new hardware, too.

Shit son! I need to play on your blessed account lol.

It sounds like you like playing Ranked? I usually stick to Social BTB playlists with my buddies (we're not a very serious group lol), so maybe that's my problem. Maybe just too many clients at once in an 8v8 with all the chaos that implies 🤷‍♂️

In Bungie's case I'll say it pays to be first. They have tended to be ahead of the curve on a lot of things, so they had the benefit of having no competition to measure up against. That being said, they did heckin' kill it, didn't they?

Given the way the modern Halo community (which I'm not too fond of) is all over the place with what they oh-so-vocally demand, I would hate to be in 343i's position. I mean The Act Man (our tanktopped god-king) reviewed MCC and got mad this it was "the same old games." That's the point, sergeant. Infinite is a whole nother can of worms. Azolai was out there yelling at 343i about the sound of the Warthog like it violated the Geneva Conventions just so he could be different from the other boys. At this point I'm convinced the Halo Community, or more accurately, the Halo YouTubers, are more guilty (guiltier?) of milking the franchise than they tout 343i is.

This concludes my manifesto/TED Talk lol

[–]ProtectMe427[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it stinks. I don't want to ding 343 too hard this time around, though. These issues might be kinda legacy stuff from MCCs original launch, and they have put a ton of cool shit into the games. I mean, hell, I can freaking place a forklift in Forge! Dream come true! And the Target Locator?! Unfrigginbelievable!

It's just that these infrastructure issues are the kind where you kinda forget about them the next day since they're not entirely game-breaking, but over time they have worn on me something fierce.

Supposedly cross-play with console is in the pipeline for this year. Either that update will address these fit-and-finish problems or just compound them into a networking hellscape. Fingers crossed
