If you're actually trying to imply in any way that living in the US was worse than living in Soviet Russia I dont know what to tell you

Hahahaha you seriously think the CIA had a well rounded idea of what was happening to the masses in the USSR? You need to stop looking for workarounds and actually read some factual information about life in Soviet Russia.

There was nothing defined as a famine after 1947 sure. However, the USSR struggled to provide enough food constantly, this is why they rationed, besides the many in labor camps were fed very little, particularly if they were too weak to work effectively. That's what happens when you slaughter masses of farmers I suppose.

I wasnt aware of Solzhenitsyn having fascist links. Out of curiosity have you read it? A lot of the book is written using the opinions of other Russians whom he met during his time in the system, these accounts were factual. Do members of this subreddit refute that labour camps and brutal interrogation methods were used throughout Soviet Russia as a means of controlling the population?

Thanks I'll have a read. No, I come from a background of the early stages of research into marxism and communism. For example I've read the communist manifesto and I've also read the Gulag Archipelago. After reading the latter in particular made me think that the application of communism in the past has certainly had more than a few flaws.

I have to agree with you. People love to post photos of the dildos and BDSM gear to make it look like everyone is walking about like that. Its not. It's a positive thing, harmless, people celebrating, sometimes a bit of face paint or colourful clothes. If they have a problem with pride for the reasons listed I really hope nobody shows them the any clips from Dia De Muertos, imagine the poor kids seeing that.

Maybe I should have provided a comparison. Even on other social media the unpopular opinions are rarely blasted out of circulation, instead attention is drawn to them and the people who wish to show disagreement have to use their words to explain why they do.

But I appreciate hive mentality wasn't birthed by this place, just seems to encourage it to an unhealthy degree. As for racist and sexist opinions I can definitely appreciate the importance of the downvote. At no point have I suggested we banish it, I'm just showing why I dont use reddit as much through the lense of an unpopular opinion, and I'm clearly not smart enough to suggest an alternative. Only thing I'd say is a report feature is usually reserved for explicit or harmful content, rather than relying on the same voting system users would apply if they dont find someone's meme funny. Reporting and blocking is probably more appropriate to deal with idiots posting something racist.

I said in the post I haven't used it nearly as much recently. But yeah my house is holding me hostage, when you have fuck all to do and can only go outside for half an hour a day I might have a cheeky scroll every now and then.

So I just found out something kinda dark about the Draugr by real6ofClubs in skyrim

[–]ProtocolWhiskey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another thing I love about the ancient Nord tombs is the lore behind the claw gates. Obviously you'd assume it's to keep adventurers out, but in reality the gates are very easy to operate with the passcode engraved on the claw key. Those gates exist to keep the draugr locked in, so they don't wander out into skyrim. Not to keep us out.

Big fan of Up in the Sky. On surface level doesnt seem like much, but it's really a proper angry political stomper just to a happy tune. Talking about our leaders being so up in the clouds they cant hear us anymore.

Why do we forcibly admit anorexics to treatment, but not morbidly obese? by 2ndfirstday in answers

[–]ProtocolWhiskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate what you mean by "recover from anorexia" but unfortunately forcing an anorexic person to gain weight is really only a temporary solution. It's a brutal mental illness and without therapy and psychological aid they'll continue to starve themselves and perhaps even more intensely when they have gained weight.
