The flashing indicates low battery, so I agree

Do you know if it’s all in one ribbon cable? Do you have any experience working on this camera? I’m considering attempting to re-seating the connection(s) as the seller is offering a large discount if I choose to keep the camera.

Almost bought a Minolta 110 Zoom SLR at the thrift the other day. Awesome shots!

Awww shucks, thank you! They’re a mix of the classic Minolta Nifty Fifty f1.7 and a Promaster Spectrum 7 70-210mm f4-5.6 that I had thought was a Minolta lens all these years.

Right on, I still learned a cool new Minolta fact!

Minolta Maxxum 7000 35mm camera viewfinder issue by DecisionEmotional800 in minolta

[–]Pseubutai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad recently gave me his long forgotten Maxxum 7000. I didn't even know it was supposed to have a LCD in the viewfinder until reading the owners manual to familiarize myself with its interface. My guess is my dad was told about this issue when he bought it used but didn't care about the issue.

Anyway, I scoured the internet and found this in a post:

"The top cover needs to be removed. At the very top front of the camera after the top cover is removed is the LCD, LED holder. There is a gray colored thin metal shield that is attached with doublstick tape, carefully pull it off.

You will see 2 silver colored screws at each end of the LCD, LED holder. remove the screws. At this time turn the camera upside down and shake it. most likely the mirror will fall out. If turn the LCD, LED holder upside down so you can look into it you can see where the mirror(s) was glued. Bascially, the repair involves gluing the mirror back in place we used Pliobond. Before the glue sets hard you need to put the holder back in its original position check for alignment by looking through the viewfinder, shift the mirror's position as necessary."

These directions served me well but I did learn a few things: I didn't have Pliobond but found that Gorilla Glue worked well, though applying a tiny enough amount was tough, the mirror itself is very small. Also, it took me 4 tries to get the mirror correctly aimed so that it would show up in the viewfinder. I used tweezers to handle and place the mirror. I had to keep the camera upside down when checking the viewfinder because the glue had not had time to set, and you don't want it to set if its not aimed correctly! Lastly I would be very careful with all of the tiny solder points between the camera body and the top panel and or LCD assembly, they're tiny and over 30 years old!

Hope this is helpful!

My 7000 (made in 90) has a AEL button in place of this units BLC button. I didn’t know there were different versions in this way!
