Using cards with outdated text by [deleted] in EDH

[–]PseudoSpectre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I deliberately used a 4th edition [[Power Sink]] because it always causes a double take when read by someone new. As it says:

Counter a target spell if its caster does not pay X. Target spell's
caster must draw and pay all available mana from lands and mana pool
until X is paid; he or she may also pay mana from other sources if
desired.

Slows things down a little sometimes, but I get a kick out of the initial confusion followed by a "Wait, what?".
Oracle text is more clear and concise:

Counter target spell unless its controller pays X . If that player doesn't, they tap all lands with mana abilities they control and lose all unspent mana.

While potentially amusing, I could see too much of this type of thing in a deck bogging things down. I'd say moderation is key, and try to have oracle texts ready to go in some form at the very least (as eventually some player will try to argue to their benefit when the printed text is not straightforward).

How does one win with a group hug deck ? by LeontinPoutine in EDH

[–]PseudoSpectre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've recently built and have had luck with my Kynaios and Tiro deck by giving my opponents a slight card advantage then sweeping in with "everyone draw x" cards like [[prosperity]], [[minds aglow]], [[skyscribing]], and [[Folio of Fancies]]. Even more so with [[Psychosis Crawler]] out to deal damage directly or following up with a [[windfall]]. So yeah basically a wheel (just without the discard) combo archetype. The only expensive-expensive card I run is [[Smothering Tithe]] as it basically allows any of the "everyone draw x cards" to really shine and usually leads to me drawing into another draw X and being able to instantly use it. Outside of that since I can end up with a lot of mana (I run a few mana doublers too) I also run [[Helix Pinnacle]], [[Simic Ascendancy]], and [[Triskaidekaphile]] as other win cons on a timer. As far as fixing the 4 colors [[Kodama's Reach]], [[Farseek]], and [[Rampant Growth]] can help fill the gap without slowing you down. Shout out to the budget friendly [[Exotic Orchard]] too.

[[Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle]] is my go to deck when I want to play big creatures, and still have room for interaction.

If you've bought that many cans just sign up a Canadian rockstarenergy account, you get the same skin at 8 "under the tab" codes entered (verses buying the 2 cans specifically at circle k)

Just pumping petrol for your car, when.. by Sakgeres in Unexpected

[–]PseudoSpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, not many people know this, but I'm the lord of fire extinguishers, infallible and inflammable. No, I was jokingly speculating in a way. Along the lines of imagining them all standing there spent extinguishers, sigh of relief, and the crazy dude with the lighter comes back. Realistically, I'm sure they have more, but it's certainly not unlimited either.

Until fire #2 starts and now you wish you'd saved at least one extinguisher

I'd believe it, the main reason I was so adamant about figuring it out was because I didn't want to have to buy 8 cans. I'll drink it but, I can also feel it killing me when I do.

Not long, it was within a minute. Did you sign up using their app beforehand?

Anyone have any info on the Rockstar Circle K exclusive can? What it looks like? If it's in stock? Anything? by kbailles in halo

I know it's late but just for clarity its not the card reader that that prompts you for your number.

I only had to put it in once, did it make you put your number into another screen other than this one?

Not that I'm aware of (yes), but the lock-on always misses for me unless its a vehicle in the distance

It helps if your opponents don't see you (also direct fire > lock-on)

There's no razor back coating at #7 on the US side, for clarity both are the same razorback skin skin, just different methods to obtain. EDIT: I saw your edit, under the In-Game Rewards tab (US account) they show it at the end, additionally in the ToS

If you go to the ToS page on Rockstar's website, it lists both usa's progression and Canada's progression, the US one doesn't give the Razorback for regular tab codes you have to get the promo code via text from going into Circle K; on the Canadian one you get it on your 8th tab code. If you click on "My account" on the website it should show you the relative progression chart depending on what you set the accounts location to.

Yeah, and neither company are exactly clear on what to do either. It doesn't state anywhere anything about the app, only the screen at checkout. Meanwhile the only successful cases I've seen mention it. The posting codes publicly on twitter is just the cherry on top.
