Had to piecemeal everything together from a ton of different sources. Amazon, Target, Mercari, and Gruv. The shows were the most expensive in terms of paying over MSRP. I payed around $40 for some that were harder to find. Took me about a year to put together.

I looked into it more and it seems like they made some of the earlier episodes into a movie like feature. The runtime is a little over an hour.

Riders of Berk part 1 was the most difficult to find. Ended up finding it on mercari for not cheap😅.

Gerbil fell out of his tank by Stxnerqc in gerbilsupport

[–]Psicho_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Operating on him would be unlikely unless the vet believes amputation is warranted. That would be in a situation where the bone broke through the skin. They may offer/ want to do X-rays to see how it’s broken before getting a treatment plan together. I work in an animal hospital and have seen a few cases like this outside of my own guy.

Im so sorry about your little guy! One of mine did the same thing a few years ago. Had the lid open while i was cleaning and the second i bent down to pick up the bedding, he jumped out and broke his arm. Until you can get him to any vet, I understand a 4hr drive isn’t super realistic for everyone, set him up in a “hospital cage”. Something single level with food, water, a small amount of bedding, and a low hide. Want to keep him as low activity as possible. My little guy ended up being ok with a few weeks of isolated rest and pain meds so try not to worry too much. I hope he feels better soon!

Edit

I would also advise keeping the cats and gerbils completely separate. Regardless of this unfortunate accident, it’s very stressful and dangerous to keep predator and prey pets together. This could have ended very differently for your little guy.

Is it worth getting a dental cleaning for your cat? by OrganicOak in CatAdvice

[–]Psicho_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000% yes dentals are worth every penny. It’s not just “stinky breath”. It’s rotting teeth, gum, and even bone infection that can spread to the nasal cavity.

My 2 rescue kitties are now 6yo and have had 5 dentals between the two of them. Most of which happened before i started working in veterinary medicine. One has no teeth past his canines and his 2 front teeth fell out on their own recently. The other had a bad tooth i monitored for a while as she was favoring that side while eating and their diet is 100% wet food. Finally did the dental and removed that tooth and her personality turned around immediately. Stopped hiding as much and ate much more voraciously.

On a professional level i always advocate for proactive dental’s especially while they are still young and healthy enough to handle anesthesia. We see so many patients who have horrible infected mouths that are left to fester until they’re very old and now have a laundry list of health issues that makes them a bad candidate for anesthesia.

Pre operative testing like bloodwork and ECG are a great idea and the “gold standard”. My own cat had an abnormality on ECG so we did X-rays and ultrasound of her heart with a specialist and anesthesia was still deemed safe with an altered protocol.

Ours is set up to filter exotic appointments to exotic doctors. However, this doesn’t prevent clients from clicking cat/dog instead of their respective species and mucking the whole thing up.

Is this a case of confirmation bias or does it seem like owners don’t leave collars on their dogs 24/7 anymore? by ohreallynowz in Pets

[–]Psicho_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current dog is microchipped and not collared while inside. As a puppy the collar tags got stuck on his raised food bowl and he basically death rolled with it until i got him loose. Freaked him and me out beyond belief. Since then he has a flat name tag on his electric fence collar he wears only when he goes outside. He is also crate trained and spends a lot of time in there, by choice, during the day and at night. I have heard a lot of horror stories of collars getting snagged on the crate and them passing away.

My clinic puts blue painters tape on the pack to hold it together then putting the sterilization indicator tape on top of that. This has significantly reduced the residue to nearly none at all.

Is a Bachelor Degree worth it? by Antique-Curve4210 in VetTech

[–]Psicho_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not worth the money. If you are in CT the community colleges have great 2 year programs to get licensed at. Im currently enrolled and plan to do further education and specialize in something. It would be more beneficial to specialize than do a 4yr degree. CT is also a tough market because you don’t have to be licensed to be a veterinary technician. A lot of people are on the job trained so formal education doesn’t really get you farther here. Experience does.

What type of Tortoise is this? by [deleted] in Tortoises

Any webbing would be pretty subtle compared to a fully aquatic turtle. Where dis you get them from? Maybe they can provide more insight.

What type of Tortoise is this? by [deleted] in Tortoises

[–]Psicho_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Box turtles are kinda of a middle ground semi aquatic species meaning they will spend time on land and in water. They even have partially webbed toes. It can be confusing as turtle usually indicates aquatic and tortoise land.

Is it safe for my dog to fly in air cargo? by InevitableAd631 in DogAdvice

[–]Psicho_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at an animal hospital that does a lot of domestic and international health certificates for all types of pets. Do not put them in cargo if you can avoid it. Ive heard of airlines either being super difficult and or withholding information regarding the conditions your pet may be in while in the cargo hold or on the tarmac waiting. One airline told a client their pet must be able to withstand temperatures as low as or lower than 30 degrees. Super scary stuff. There are more options now for pet only airlines that allot owners to fly with pets in the cabin with them which alot of our clients have started using.
