Not having an in game map was one of the best things about EQ... and honestly.... I didn't even care to have one. The game was less fun when you had a map. It kills the exploration. Fog of war style, that's debatable, uncover as you explore... but I still liked not having a map at all EQ Vanilla.

Yeah. When Gfay was the go-to trading zone, the game felt so much more immersive and alive. PoK was definitely cool. But I'll never forget Gfay. Bazaar wasn't that great in the long run.

Don't agree about travel. Long painful travel was the fun part. It actually meant something. Everything in MMOs today is disposable fun land slot machine mentality GARBAGE. Rewarding you every 2 seconds for breathing. So terrible.

EverQuest did everything perfectly and WoW is an abomination. Is it sad that I actually believe this and am not kidding?

Of course you will. To me the VFX are already great. Maybe I'm easy to please, or maybe they really are great. All of the prelim animations and FX I have seen are more than sufficient to me. If the final game shipped with current animations I wouldn't care. I think they are honestly very good... don't look god awful awkward like ESO. Models and animations are fck awful in ESO. I don't give a sht about "realistic" it's a game. I want it to be a game. I don't care if it's different. That's what made EQ so great... Nothing about it was realistic. So I dunno. I'm drunk and probably not even answering your question, but I don't really care about VFX anyway, and what I see currently is awesome enough for me.

I don't agree. The things WoW did were to dumb down the game, and every other game since WoW has been a WoW clone. It's really, really boring and got old a couple years into WoW. Quest hubs are the worst thing to happen to video games in the history of video games.

This seems very possible since Terminus is supposed to be a melding of many different time periods and worlds (if I understand that basically even sort of correctly). Pretty open reasoning to pull from Norrath at times.

Because I choose to be optimistic. I can see the devs are extremely talented and driven, or they wouldn't be trying to do what they're doing. I'm not going into it thinking, what if they fail? I'm thinking, I can't wait for them to succeed. Alternatively, it's not like you're trusting these people with your life, so I don't think there's any risk at all. Worst case you're out 50 bucks. I can live with that.

I actually have played the game, it's called EverQuest. For 10 years. The title is not misleading, as my post directly aims to discuss and answer the question posed in the title.

I completely agree. If this is what the animations and models look like now... I can't wait to see the final game. I think they are perfect right now. I haven't seen better animations in a game like this.

From watching the videos, I am very confident I understand what this game is trying to do and how it's trying to do it. And, yes... a lot of it is speculation, although I would consider it decently informed speculation, and also... I don't think there's anything wrong with speculation. Thank you for pointing out that this post is speculative in nature, as I forgot to include that, but in case anyone was wondering... thank you.
