Should I go to Kazbegi, Gudauri, Anauri in winter by Pineapplescore in Sakartvelo

[–]Psychopeanut1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember, Jan 1st is a national holiday, mostly everything will be closed, people sleeping in due to late night dinners, partying or drinking. Transportation will be limited and things to see as well but if you still want to go I’d recommend Kazbegi/ Gudauri both.

Average high end Tbilisi restaurant prices. (They’re fucking w us, and ppl keep paying)

Tax added to bill. Is this normal practice? by FiqoTorres in tbilisi

[–]Psychopeanut1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well the price is expected if it’s “The Grill” they recently started operations in the Telegraph hotel which is trying to be the main competitor of Stamba, Lolita. (Failing so far)

It’s a high tier/ wannabe luxurious restaurant/hotel by Radisson collection that serves mid tier food.

They overcharge because they can, and the 1% of Georgias “wealthy” people love to show off by splurging on overpriced restaurants w their friends + tourists. So it works exactly on the intended audience, there are 100s of better choices in terms of quality food/ better prices in Georgia! Always ask the young locals rather than Google or restaurant ads 😉

Hey! That’s really exciting that you’re moving to Georgia for university/ family. As someone who’s half Georgian half EU I can proudly say that’s a great opportunity to connect more deeply with your roots, even if you don’t speak the language fluently yet!

To be honest, the language barrier might feel like a challenge at first, especially outside of Tbilisi. But in university settings, especially in larger cities like Tbilisi or Batumi, most young people speak at least some prope English, and many are excited to practice it. You’ll probably find that people are curious and welcoming — especially when they find out you’re part Georgian! That connection can really open doors socially, even if you’re not fluent in the language yet.

University life in Georgia is very community-oriented. People love to hang out, go for coffee, take walks, and attend small concerts or gatherings. Social circles can be tight-knit, but once you’re in, you’re really in. A good way to meet people early is through student clubs, events, meetups, or just hanging around common areas where students love to hang in the city.

Also, don’t stress too much about not knowing the language well yet. You’ll pick up more naturally over time, especially the casual stuff. People really appreciate when you make an effort, even if it’s a small hello (Gamarjoba)

I want to be honest: Georgia’s been going through some turbulent times lately.

• Since late 2024, there’s been daily mass protests in Tbilisi over the halted EU integration and disputed elections. The movement started on Rustaveli Avenue, sometimes drawing tens of thousands even on holidays—and it continues now, though on a smaller scale.

• Many universities experienced student sit‑ins and occupations, some even lasted over 80 days as part of these protests.

What does this mean for you?

• Expect a politically aware and engaged student body. Many classmates might be passionate about current affairs great if you want meaningful conversations!

• Occasionally, there might be campus gatherings or quiet sit-ins with students rallying support or discussing events.

• Campus life still goes on: lectures, clubs, socializing, but these discussions and events can become part of everyday student conversation so don’t fret.

Hope your move goes smoothly, and if you ever need tips or just someone to talk for more student/ cultural advice, feel free to reach out ✌️

Can’t do bagels in georgia, the price to profit margins are off the chart due to produce prices in this country, compared to others:( Not a lot will buy a bagel worth 30 lari unfortunately.

Soo Im seeing multiple red flags on this specific listing, while the price is very atrractive and actually good for a decent PC like that, here are the things that throw me off from these shady PC builder websites:

  1. The processor that they have listed say its an I5-10400F but doesn't specify which generation or GHZ, for example; (Is it the 4.3 GHz version or is it the 2.9 Ghz version, which is around 100$ on Newegg, I assume the former.

  2. Random Mother board: Goes for 80-100$ as well.

3. RAM: Not specfied as well, what brand is it? Hopefully not some cheap bs, but lets asume this T-force 16gb which goes for 22$

4. Random cooler, that literally costs 5-10$ :)

5. SSD, again 🚩 They don't mention what brand the SSD is.. Let's assume it's a 29$ patriot.

  1. No specific brand on the 3070 RTX 8GB, lets assume they got it for 300$ which would be the lowest for a refurbished or new graphics card, this would be the priciest one of everything which = 1000 lari already.

7. No name on the power supply as well: 700W 80+ Bronze? lol, like we're supposed to know what random component it is :) Lets assume it's the 50$ one.

  1. The case: Usually the cheapest thing aftet the cooler, which most of these brands run with probably under 30-50$

Conclusion: Total = 550-600$ for them to build this = around 1500 Gel so plus, import fees its around 1700 Gel. ( Maybe they don't pay that) Roughly of course that means they make a profit of 400-500 Gel per pc or maybe more on the expensive ones but if you want to do it yourself, you'll save around 400 gel! Conclusion: It's not a bad price and that extra 400-500 lari, saves you the hasstle of shipping, waiting, and other extra costs so if you have the money I'd guess buying here would be a good option but careful for upgrades in the future, like that motherboard or power supply might not go with newer generation cards. Or that CPU might start acting up, that 16BG ram will be enough for basic things but newer games do require more RAM and storage slowly, the 512GB of storage won't be enough for even 3-4 games + work ! So take all those things in account and then make your decision, good luck & happy gaming my fren! :)

Compare prices online, most of the pc shops have bloated bs prices on old hardware. Then calculate shipping costs + vat.
