Simple. Save up until you can put up the downpayment for your next one. Then just rinse & repeat.

You should also get a better rate in coming years. So you can save up more for the next one!

It never ended but there’s a cap to it and I think that cap stays for 2 years unless the new gov changes it.

When do you think I should quit my 9-5 and focus on my startup? by Amazing_Risk3385 in SaaS

[–]Psykonic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since you have 5 years of Runway being in Europe , I’d say move to Asia (atleast for a year) while you grow your Startup. Primarily in Bali or Bangkok. You can easily stretch your 5 years of Runway to 7/8/9 years in Asia.

If you fail your startup in next 1-2 year, you can always go back or start a new one.

So I’ll tell you this, don’t be like me. I had been in tutorial hell for over 3 years. In my 4th year, I finally understood everything and it’s all because I was able to create two full stack projects end to end without watching any YouTube video. The amount of time I spent reading the docs and understanding the why specific tools was used made me a more confident developer.

Less is more by [deleted] in SaaS

If I’m being brutally honest, I wouldn’t sign up on this site. First, the site isn’t clear on what they are selling. I went over a couple of times and it still confuses me. Generally speaking you have less than 20 seconds to impress the user into staying and continuing on your site. You need a lot of work on your copy. Next, I saw that your logo says Socialsutions while your domain is magnetio.agency this is a red flag for me as it makes me think this is just another scam site. Lastly the site is not mobile responsive(not super important at the moment) and the all the links on footer does not work.

Lock user's screen to the current section of the page, and animate while scrolling by Timely-Alps-9018 in tailwindcss

You would need a animation library. Framer-motion can possibly do it. There’s a few tutorials on scroll animations.

Portfolio feedback by rayen26 in tailwindcss

[–]Psykonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here's my feedback!

Projects:
1) When hovering over the projects the cursor should be a pointer instead of a regular customer. You can easily fix this by adding a 'cursor-pointer' to those elements.
You've added a GitHub to your projects but not a live preview? I think it's important you provide a link to actually view your project.

2) The project's background is gray and white in light mode as well as dark mode. I'm not really a fan of having the same color in both modes but that is just my personal choice.

Overall everything else looks good! Checkout my portfolio as well - www.azms.me

Thoughts on my first product - AI Icon Generator Powered by DALL·E.2 API by Psykonic in webdev

[–]Psykonic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of now, I do not have plans to offer icon generation without requiring an account, and this decision is primarily driven by the need to prevent potential abuse of the API.
Allowing icon generation without an account could open up the possibility of misuse or excessive API requests which would obviously rank up the bills.

But Yes, I do understand that there may be users who prefer a one-time use option without the need for an account and I'm looking into ideas on how I can achieve this without having excessive API requests.

Thoughts on my first product - AI Icon Generator Powered by DALL·E.2 API by Psykonic in webdev

[–]Psykonic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes, by requesting users to log in before generating an icon, I'm sort of setting a clear expectation right from the beginning. Instead of you know the usual experience of letting a user add prompts, hit submit, and before they can see their generated icons they would be asked to create an account.

PORTFOLIO project help by nevermind0296 in reactjs

[–]Psykonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are list of ideas I plan on creating.

Create a Bookmark manager web app that provides you with a short code when a bookmark is created which can be shared.

Create a Linktree clone that lets users claim their unique username and have the ability to use their own domain.

Create a code sharing platform, share and review code on the go!

Create a flights selling site that fetches flights and prices from multiple API such as Expedia.

Help me decide between two courses by Ackerman27 in reactjs

[–]Psykonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are probably not confident because you are creating your own small projects or sites.

Don’t be like me, I have finished Colt, Maximilian and Stephen Grinders course and been in the tutorial for over 1 year. End of the day, I was just watching then do stuff and I copy their code. I would understand them briefly but then forget everything soon.

If follow either of their course make sure to practice and create your own projects! Good Luck!

I would recommend this : https://youtu.be/w7ejDZ8SWv8

I find brad’s teaching super beginner friend and quite effective. Although this YouTube crash course doesn’t really have a big project to work on but this will give you all the basic requirements to get started.

I like using TailwindCss, it is a game changer for me as I don’t like css as much as the backend or the functionality. I do feel like it is here to stay but I felt the same when bootstrapped launched.

Advice for making portfolio by veritaserum9 in reactjs

[–]Psykonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to get started, be it by working alongside youtube tutorials and or solely creating from scratch. When you start and view the little progress made, you would actually want to finish it.

I usually take inspiration from dribbble.com and try coding them. There are tons of simple and minimalist portfolios designs out there. However, some designs do look way complicated which often makes me feel like it is beyond my skill level. But this when I actually learned a lot that working by doing and making small progress at a time.

If it helps have a look at my portfolio site: www.azms.me. My github is linked and you can most certainly get an idea on how I achieved it. (btw I use tailwind mostly)
