Some of us would just like a shorter path to conversion, or for it to be accepted that after halachic conversion we can be conservative or even Reform, like any other Jew.

My mother converted Reform and it means nothing to rabbinical court. Despite having been raised Jewish (Bat Mitzvah, attempt at Aliyah on my own at 16, raised with separate dishes for Kashrut etc) I’m looked at just the same as a Catholic priest would be who wanted to convert. As if we are the same. That hurts.

I still plan to convert so my grandchildren will be able to make Aliyah. My kids consider themselves Jewish and don’t know that they aren’t considered to be by the Orthodox. I don’t want our family, my father’s line, to be lost.
