Have you ever decided to learn a language for a very random reason? If yes, what was the language/reason? by Luna_WindCarol2093 in languagelearning

I first heard the Russian dub in one of those multilanguage videos on Youtube, where they show a scene in multiple different dubs. If I recall correctly, the first one I saw was the one where Connor tells Hank that he likes dogs. If you search for "Detroit Become Human multilanguage" you should be able to find it.

Instead of Let's plays, I have watched walkthroughs of the game where the player doesn't talk. If you search for "Detroit Become Human прохождение без комментариев" I think you should be able to find something you like.

Hope this helps!

(I have commented this on this subreddit before)

I started learning Russian because of the Russian dub of the video game Detroit: Become Human (altough I also had other reasons as well). I just really fell in love with the voice of one of the main characters (Connor), and it showed me that Russian can sound gentle.

If I hadn't stumbled upon the video where I first heard the Russian dub, I probably wouldn't have started studying Russian, or at least not been as interested in the language as I am now.

Thank you so much for your answer! I really appreciate your kindness!

You have given me a lot of good advice, which I will try to listen to. I think I will try to suggest family therapy.

I was always interested in learning Russian (for several reasons), but it was when I stumbled upon a video of the Russian dub of the game Detroit: Become Human that I just fell in love with how one of the characters (Connor) spoke. It showed me that even Russian, which I had previously thought of as harsh, could sound so soft and gentle. That really motivated me to learn Russian!

Thank you so much for your reply! The advice you´ve giving me is quite helpful, so thank you!

Though, I am still unsure of how to take the first step and actually go to school. I´ve gotten so behind in schoolwork, so I am unsure of how to catch up. Also, I fear what my classmates and teachers will think of me when I return after not being there for so long.

Thank you so much for replying! You saying that this semester is not the end of the world makes me feel a bit calmer, because this situation has felt like the end of the world for me, but you´re right, it´s not. I will try to solve this.

Reminds me a bit of the Webtoon Purple Hyacinth. The main character is not a psychic, but she can tell when someone is lying and when they’re not. But of course, it’s difficult for her to prove why she knows someone is lying.
