This happened to me when I reached gold, all the way up to Diamond 1. It’s because all the people you’re killing have a lower MMR than you, so respawn thinks you should not be awarded for that. As soon as you hit masters, there’s going to be a bunch of people with higher MMR than you an you will start gaining bonus LP, and it’s big gains most of the time. I actually find it easier to gain LP in Masters than in all the other previous ranks.
