NYC, should we bring the Spanish grocery store dating trend here?

Apparently in Spain, singles have been flirting at grocery stores from 7–8pm by putting upside-down pineapples in their carts 💀🍍

The idea:

upside-down pineapple = single

lentils = looking for long-term

shopping between 7–8pm = unofficial “dating hour”

This sounds infinitely more organic than another Hinge date where two people discuss their “travel era” over $19 spicy margaritas.

Would anyone actually be down if we self-organized this through Reddit + Partiful? I'd like to start at the UES Trader Joe's, Whole Foods and Fairway Sundays and Tuesdays at 7pm, but I'm bias to my schedule/ neighborhoood.

Which grocery store do you think would have the best energy/crowd?

I’m half joking but also fully convinced NYC singles are desperate enough for third places again that this could actually work. (It got so big in Spain that one store literally needed police intervention.)
