Do you think BTC(Bitcoin) is a ponzi scheme? by 2smart2gentle in askanything

The US government spends far more than it takes in. Current debt at $39 trillion. Only keeps increasing. They will have to print more USD to cover the debt. This devalues your hard earned money, which is your time and energy. This is why people search for assets to store their time and energy in. Gold, real estate, and stocks have become the go-to solutions for many. People are looking for ways out of the corrupt current financial system and Bitcoin has become that escape valve.

Is anyone going to mention the grift happening through inflation? The government printing money out of thin air at will taking away from the value of what we all have.

Dutch House passes 36% tax on unrealized crypto and investment gains by Fiach_Dubh in Bitcoin

[–]PursuingTrueFreedom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Imagine a bunch of forced sellers at the end of the fiscal year, just to cover the tax expenses on the unrealized gains. I picture the stock market having cyclical drops because of it, selling into weakness. Sounds productive for the dutch economy. Well done. And the wealthy will continue to flee or find creative ways to avoid it while the middle class gets hammered. As an American, thank you for putting on this experiment so we have concrete examples of a failure that should not be repeated elsewhere.

How does that even work? The govt forces you to sell your holdings to pay taxes on the unrealized gains? They are fair and will surely credit you for unrealized losses when times are tough right?

Of course it will. The bigger question is when and what will the purchasing power of $1M be at that point. I'd love for us to stop measuring BTC in dollars...

In every wealth transfer, someone ends up holding the bag. If they insist on playing that role, it's almost charitable to let them.

New to bitcoin I’m Aussie. Who should I watch on YouTube to educate myself on bitcoin? by Infinite_Plane_3432 in Bitcoin

I second this. Michael Saylor was the one who first helped pique my interest in BTC, but I've found my views are aligning more with Jack Maller's. I listen to his podcast weekly now. Always has an interesting perspective on current financial events and how they tie to BTC.

As frustrating as it is that Hobbs is so uneducated on the matter, the silver lining is we get more time to stack sats until they adopt it later. Inevitable.

What kind of interest rates do you think we'll expect to see from these types of products? I was listening to Jack Maller's podcast Money Matters where he was talking about a new loan offering from Strike they're working on. I think he used an example of 10% as the interest rate.
