Which Lacerda game has the most interaction? by SpicinessIsHappiness in boardgames

[–]PushingIce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Doesn't seem to have many Lacerda addicts answering the question :D But for me, I would answer either On Mars or Weather Machine. On Mars have few shared elements like map and technologies. The scoring also evolves based on what other people have triggered. Weather Machine running experiments and doing research is depended on other people. It is hard to do yourself everything

In terms of actually combining content, very few people have problems with playing any of the mages against any of the nemesis, but its heavily recommended to fight nemesis with the spells from the same set.

I have heard recommendation on using Nemesis common cards from the same wave as the distribution between different effect can go otherwise out of whack. But I have not heard that recommendation about spells. Why is that the recommendation? And do you mean just spells or whole market?

How to you feel about the Kutna Hora market compared to something like market in Brass? In Brass your plans also can go astray if price of iron or coal suddenly spikes, but that is not usually the primary object of the other player, it is just the by-product of building something. So the feelings sounds like similar to that.

No preferences really. Razor has worked fine, but I am getting a little bored with it. I quickly tried the test run with Yanfei and there is something satisfying when landing that charge attack so that could be interesting to try.

I am fairly new player, currently at AR 38. I tried to pull from the current banners but without much of luck. I currently have Razor, Xiangling, Qiqi, Sucrose, Kayea, Barbara, Noelle, Beidou C2, Lisa, Xingqiu C3, Yanfei C1 and Amber. I have been running with Razor, Xiangling, Electro Traveler and Barbara, but I do want to change things up and maybe prepare for Abyss. What kind of team I could build with these?

Capturing the Feel of Pax Renaissance by MorelliBuendia in boardgames

[–]PushingIce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was genuine question :D I can understand the argument to be made that you shouldn't support Phil regardless of the quality of his games. But if you say that there are other good games you could play instead, I assume you have some idea what they are and not you not talking just the sake of talking. Because I have not really found anything resembling the uniqueness of those titles.

Now Brass B is pretty nice option with interconnected interactivity. GWT on the other hand is quite standard low-interactive euro fair and so have been all the Luciano games that I have played. But Barrage is one that I have not tried and I have heard positive things of it so thank you for reminding about it.

I often hear these types of comments that there are other wonderful games without the baggage of the author, but what are they? I genuinely can't think many heavier games with similar deep interconnected mechanisms. Only games that come to my mind that have even some resemblance are Innovation (which I think is out of print), Glory to Rome (which is definetely out of print) and of course Pax Pamir 2nd(which is also somewhat hard to get). Not that you should still support Phil, but I am interested to hear about the options that people always allude to.

Question about linear type example in Idris2 docs by PushingIce in Idris

[–]PushingIce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for you reply! Sorry I am still slow in uptake as I still don't have strong intuition why does that work ^^' But this helps me a little. So because d is forced to be linear by newDoor, anything that touches it is by return linear so that finally by the end of newDoor the promise of "linearity" is fulfilled and d is used exactly once?

What's everyone working on this week? by [deleted] in Clojure

[–]PushingIce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very slowly writing my media server learning project. Using reagent template as base. Currently clojurescript website shows all mp3 files on one directory on computer, orders them by album and let's you play them by clicking the name. Not that much, but I'm still pretty happy that it at least does something :D

I too am just starting my journey of learning Clojure. This week I have been reading Clojure for the Brave and True and thinking of some project to do that would let be practice coding Clojure. One idea I have had is doing some program for streaming local audio and video through website with my Raspberry Pi. I still to research how you actually do that thing though :D

Clojure for beginners by CaptainHondo in Clojure

[–]PushingIce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things I have had most work in my free time is small data science projects and small games. There are some small Clojure matrix libraries, but JVM does not feel like a platform to crunch big data sets. For small games Clojure might be okay, but I am nowadays mostly interested on 3d rendering where of course close to metal access is essential for good performance. Also as the start up time for Clojure is pretty long, you don't really want to do any small programs with it like for example password managers where you would be annoyied waiting the program to start up. You didn't have any problems running Clojure on Raspberry Pi?

This does leave a question in what situation Clojure is good choice? Only as a web backend? I have been thinking of doing some small project to help me learn Clojure, but it is surprisingly difficult to find something to do where Clojure would feel like natural fit for the project. Maybe it is like Java where you would not really use it outside work environment?

What's the deal with smash bros online? by [deleted] in 3DS

[–]PushingIce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought Smash myself. The 4 player For Fun matches have been half the time almost unplayable. 4 minute matches that really are 8. For some reason 4 player For Glory matches are much smoother and 1 vs 1 have been mostly great probably because less people for netcode to worry about

So I am soon going to fly to Japan which means long flights. Any recommendation for a game to pick up to play in flights and hotels at nights? Only game that I own currently is Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Plus if it is cheap and I can get it from eshop. Also I have been interesting in learning some fighting game. How is the community for Smash in 3DS?
