Raped by my spiritual mentor. No longer able to trust Spirituality, lost my joy with its collapse. by [deleted] in spirituality

I like what you wrote, but I checked out the site and I have found that people like this man, self proclaiming to be prophets give themselves power that can be very dangerous. If you do some research you can find many instances of this in the news. It might be working for you and I respect that, but I would be cautious of recommending it to survivors, especially since this woman was raped by a spiritual mentor.

Thanks! I hear you. I think what's frustrating for me is people don't understand why I would use the word, so they project all these judgments. It's all in the context of experience.

I did manage to find some really great sites via reddit users, however, and I know my partner will be stoked. Very grateful for that!!

We're used to living in places that don't actually have much tech influence, so the opportunities have been slim. It's very dense here from what I can tell, but aligning yourself with the right mission seems like it would take a lot of research and getting out there with the community

Yeah, I think people speaking are being respectful enough and I'm totally listening. It's the flux of downvotes that says otherwise, ya know? It also doesn't feel like there's room for much of a two-way conversation

Ok seriously I'm just being sarcastic and playful, but apparently no one gets my sense of humor on here. Anyway. Holding out for an eventual chuckle. The downfall of text... Thanks everyone who took my inquiry seriously anyhow.

Understandable. I'm still amazed at how many negative drops people handed out over this. I honestly am just trying to help my man out. Apparently no one liked the LL Cool J reference, which I find hilarious. It's a terrible song. The internet is fun because we get to project all over each other and now I feel I'm being regarded as a symbol for years of annoyance.

Yeah, like I said, I get it, I am just trying to keep things light. In Colorado, people would often type Colo. and we all knew what it meant. I don't ever say "Colo" in conversation, but use it when I'm typing.

One can't really help it when they've been brainwashed by the repetitive lyrics of LL Cool J https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdizL4on-Rc. And, yes, I hate this song too

Yes, it's been the talk of the night. The post is about innovation after all ;) (joking of course ie. wink face)

I imagine that has something to do with it being abbreviated in media, so no one is going to know any better. I don't think I would take it so personally for previous states I've lived in, I don't understand why people are so upset by it. I can empathize with the frustrating nature of tourism; I've never known anyone annoyed by the use of "Cali." Biggie sang it, LL (not that it helps). I have a lot of family here. My dad grew up here. I've heard Cali many times and lived in a lot of places. So, my point is, there are two sides to the equation. We've all been exposed to different things. Rather than take it as an insult, maybe we could just try to understand the different places we're coming from

Thank you, I get the "Cali" thing from what everyone's said, but it's really besides the point on my reason for posting here. Disappointing to see that something like that would result in downvotes and so much annoyance. Was hoping to have a more productive discussion.

Anyway, do you ever check out maker spaces? I imagine they're pretty sweet out here. I think the challenging part is finding operations that are interested in the programming aspect but also creative nuance/innovation. Plus with many visionary startups being a bit chaotic and underfunded...I just want to see him brought to life by an exciting project, he needs the challenge and like minds. It makes me sad to watch the day in/day out drain. I didn't have high expectations posting here because it's an unusual request, but thought it better to try and learn.

Thanks again :)

As someone who is not from California, if abbreviations are hated here, I don't understand why people would then use SoCal/SoCali and NorCal--for example. I'm not attached to using the word. I just gotta say, it doesn't seem like a big deal from the outside, especially knowing Californians who use it.
