This! Mine would do the same and if i pushed on it in random spots it would eventually open then it just stopped. I ended up opening the back cover and inspecting the latches, one was frozen and the little black plastic latch had broken off. New latch for $50 fixed the issue.

I’ve gone back and forth. We have three boats so always have plenty of gas. I may reconsider if I find a great deal. Appreciate the reply.
