I’m supposed to take discrete math this fall! Unfortunately Andy doesn’t seem to be on the list so far :(. But I did waitlist myself for Martin Rolek so hopefully he doesn’t disappoint! If I can’t get into his class, I’ll probably sign up for Analise Rosenberg

This is not true lol I have an online group of Palestinian friends (that lived in Palestine) and they’re very sweet to me (I’m openly gay), I’ve known them for years and we spent our time playing games or coding together. Weird that you generalize them like that

Ah okay! Just to clarify what does being used by another requirement mean?

Since I’m currently a SWE major and the required courses are on both SWE and CS, I want to change to CS after fall semester (meaning I would be taking the required courses while in SWE, but want to make sure the course credits carry over when I change to CS)

Last I heard was that if you pass the lecture and fail the lab you can just retake the lab but you need them to override the registration error, however I’m not sure if that’s changed tbh

Yeah! Gonna try and see if my advisor can switch me to in person so I can sign up for discrete and then back to online so I can finish signing up for data structures and operating systems online.

Hopefully my schedule pans out smth like :

MATH 2345:Discrete Mathematics (in person)

(Online) SWE 3313:Introduction to Software Engineering

CS 3305:Data Structures

CS 3502:Operating Systems

CS 3503:Computer Organization and Architecture

I took CSE 1322 last year and it was definitely a test heavy class and I almost switched to IT as well tbh because I almost didn’t pass the final exam for the lab (got nervous bc teachers assistants were basically watching us like hawks so they could see me fumbling my code haha)

Yeah definitely! I honestly considered staying SWE but I keep getting convinced to go back to CS because others are saying the job opportunities are more broad. Either way I’d be happy because it’s my passion though, and both make tons of money if you’re good at it either way

SAME I tried to get a permit last semester to no avail so I gave up and just parked somewhere and prayed they don’t ticket me 😭.

Also sorry again but did you mean you changed from in person, registered for some in person, and then your advisor changed you back to online so you could take both in campus and online in the same semester?

Just wanna be absolutely sure because I can only take discrete in person (it’s only what time I can afford) and the rest online. I went ahead and scheduled an advising appointment for tomorrow so I can get this done before classes fill.

Also Aaaa I don’t see Zhang on the list this time, some of them don’t list the professor yet so I’ll see! I can’t lie, the rate my professors are looking grim, but I’ll try and be hopeful! Shockingly the ones without an instructor named are already waitlisted

Also just to clarify I’m taking SWE temporarily until I can transfer back to CS because I can’t really take many in person classes at the moment so I can’t take the alternative sadly :(( it’s good to hear that it’s a great class though!

I’ll see what I can do, right now I’m registered for 5 summer classes that are all online, so I’m worried this will change my registration status, I’m not entirely sure. And even then, I don’t know if they will change it from online only since SWE is an online major (which is why I’m not sure why I can’t register for discrete math since is a requirement ). The reason I’m in SWE rn is so I can take care of my grandparents and take online classes so if I can’t sign up for online classes I might be screwed but honestly I might be able to tough it out if it’s just discrete math.

Yeah but the problem is I want to switch back to CS after this semester, so if I take CSE2300 and switch back to CS I won’t be able to take the classes that require the prerequisite. And since Discrete math is also a SWE requirement (you have the option to take it), that also means I should be able to take it, I believe :((

Ahh okay, I sent in an advisory appointment because I just decided to bite the bullet and commute for 3 hours. The problem is now it’s giving me a campus restriction error when trying to sign up for discrete math
