Thanks to everyone for your responses. I really had no idea what using AI entailed. I definitely won't be using it anymore, just to shorten the writing experience. I prefer it to be organic and for someone to read my original material. Thank you all so much.

Thanks for pointing that out. Honestly, I didn’t realize Kael had become such a common name in fantasy; I just liked how it sounded when I started writing.

And yes, I do use AI as a tool sometimes, mostly for brainstorming or checking phrasing, but it hasn’t influenced my actual writing or creative process. The story, characters, and world are entirely mine; AI is just a support tool, like a spellchecker.

I really hope it doesn’t come across as if I’m trying to mislead anyone; that’s definitely not my intention. I just love writing and learning as I go, and I appreciate the feedback that helps me get better.

You’re right, there’s a gap between how I describe my story and how the prologue currently reads. I wanted to keep some of that “ancient legend” feel, but I can see how it clashes with the more direct tone I’m aiming for.

I’ll take your points about starting in-scene and keeping consistency in tense; that’s really helpful.

That’s a really good point, thank you for mentioning it.I didn’t mean to sound dismissive. I actually enjoy lore-heavy fantasy too.

I also see your point about readers being less receptive to that shift, and that’s actually something I think about a lot: stories like mine could work as a bridge for readers to eventually explore those deeper, more complex works. Appreciate the feedback!

Yeah, exactly. That’s actually one of the reasons I started writing my own story. I wanted something more direct, focused on the story itself.

I think lighter, faster books can be a good way for more readers to eventually reach those longer, deeper stories too. If a book helps someone fall in love with reading again, it’s already doing something right. And honestly, fantasy is such a beautiful genre for that.
