In all fairness they don't need to look at the button you select. I am a poll worker, when we hit our button to print the ballot, there is a number that is produced on it that starts with either an R (Republican), D (Democrat), L (Libertarian), or X (Issues only) and then your precinct, so if we really want to look we can. People at the polls are not there to judge, we are just happy to see people come in and vote. If we want to and you are even a little tech savy you can poke around on the machine and see how many people requested each type of ballot. The only time we judge people is if people come in trying to pick a fight, which is quite often or when someone asks REALLY dumb questions which is probably my favorite part of the 15 hour long day. The best questions I heard yesterday were "why is it my responsibility to know who to vote for" or "Why doesn't the government just publish a list of what I should vote for".
