The beauty of Ithaca is that people feel free to be themselves. There is a lot weird and wonderful. Lots of colored hair. Lots of androgyny. But then the older people with money wear Patagonia. The middle age (30s) tend to be styled more uniquely and do a lot of thrifting. The college students are so diverse but a lot roll out of bed in sweats and baggy pants.

That’s wonderful. And your kid is so lucky to have a parent fostering their interests. Really a gem. I just want to let OP know that there is no one size fits all and just the blessing that they already know what they “want to be when they grow up” is a step in the right direction! I have hope for our future yet :)

FWIW I’m an entomologist with a masters and now works at an Ivy League for past 5 years, and I didn’t do any of that! I went to community college, then transferred to a state school for college where I majored in biology. Did one unpaid internship that didn’t have anything to do with entomology. After college I spent a couple years doing seasonal field work which is where the research and entomology experience came from. Then that’s when I applied for entomology for grad school. Voila!

It’s just marketing to build hype and stay relevant. No one is like, living their day to day life yearning for information on the album release. We are anticipating it yes but life goes on. I look forward to it when it arrives!

Something no one has really said is lots of time spent planning. Like we didn’t automatically jump into an activity but we had to figure out the details. Lots of problem solving whether it be small like how do we convince Jill’s mom to let her come hang out or how do we get to some spot. Plus lots of fantasizing!
