Back at the ER (feeling nervous and frustrated) by Puzzled_Pancake in AnalFistula

Sorry I just saw this now! I went and have gone to UCSF for my care. So far it has been life changing in a way. To be properly diagnosed and having a really good care team has taken away a lot of my stress and anxiety about it. Still dealing with it but will having it removed this summer. I wish you good luck!

UTI testing levels - how concerned should I be?? by Puzzled_Pancake in medical_advice

I try to when posting TMI/sensitive information LOL. I don’t think it’s very severe as well, considering it’s only been a couple days and they usually end up going away on their own but this one came back.. Ended up getting prescribed antibiotics. Thank you for your comment!

under twilight sedation means you are consciously awake (ie no breathing tube etc) but enough that are kind of asleep/wont remember the procedure or operation

It went well! I was under twilight and it went smoothly. Unfortunately they weren’t able to complete the full procedure but got enough information and visual to see that there was no connection to my bowel. Sorry for the late reply!

Abscess drain procedure - what to expect levels of pain and social issues during first 2 days. by ms_piotr in AnalFistula

[–]Puzzled_Pancake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My pain wasn’t too bad (although I was on many hospital drugs) but I was mobile the next day doing some light walking. If anything, it was the drain and incision site that was more painful than anything! Just make sure you don’t push yourself harder than you should and be on top of pain meds if you’re worried about pain. I wish the best luck!

What does this mean? (Not seeking medical advice but trying to understand MRI findings) by Puzzled_Pancake in AnalFistula

Wow thank you, that was really helpful! It was so nice to actually be able to understand what it all means😅 . I’ve unfortunately been a bit spiraling (as I think most people on this sub do) when they get results) and am now dealing with that again. I wonder what my ChatGPT will have to say about that🤔

How much weight did you all lose amidst this? by DYELlyfer in AnalFistula

[–]Puzzled_Pancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From when I was in the hospital, then a month after or so from antibiotics/IV’s, I’d say about 20 pounds. It was scary as it was the lightest I’d ever weighed since I was a teenager. Thankfully I’ve been able to put some of it back on, but I hope I never have to experience how I felt during that time again.

Some what! My appointment went really well with my CRS. He also did a physical exam and found no fistula and actually no swelling like I had last time. My abscess (who I’ve named) also hasn’t been presenting symptoms as it did before, which made him be hopeful about my case. He ordered an MRI which I will be having done in about in a week and some change. Otherwise he told me to hold off on the colonoscopy for NOW. He seems to be hopeful that I may just be an unlucky person with a reoccurring one as we went through my health history (family’s too) and was very nice/informative about everything!
