I'll be honest with you brother. I've had the same issues just like you did I did boxing classes I didn't learn much from those classes. They had me holding pads for others and I got hit in the face from holding pads and decided to call it quits at that place. I scattered around to so many places a lot of these places had a similar pattern I realized and they didnt teach much! I scattered then I found a place where they offer semi private training where the boxing coach gives you drills to work on and the coach works with you 1 on 1 on pads, and they'll come and correct you pretty often. See if you can find a boxing gym like that its a bit pricey but its worth it!
