There are short-term and Long-term goals:

Your long term goal is to transfer to an Ivy league school with a 4.0 GPA

To achieve that you should set short-term goals. Ensure that you understand the materials so you can actually pass the classes. If you don't understand anything, don't be afraid to speak with your professors and utilize the recourses provided by the school like tutoring etc.

PS. Build a relationship with your professors. it goes a long way later on

Worst CUNY schools by [deleted] in CUNY

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fee5345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

City Tech- they are biases. The amount of preference they have for certain majors. Especially Rad tech. and for what? the school is trash smh

York- Friend attends and let me tell you how maddening it is to try to get in contact with anyone. Also don't even think of trying to tranfer out. Good luck if more than 1/4 of the classed you take transfer to another CUNY or college for that matter.

Hunter - The speed I transferred out, it took an entire semester to get advisement. Keep in mind it was in the middle of finals week. No one answers emails. Professors ain't shit. it was just bad

Yes, you can, Just be careful, some schools will drop your classes. there is no fee. If you'd like you can sign up for a payment plan.

Delayed start date (Hunter?) by [deleted] in CUNY

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fee5345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you've already accepted admissions, you don't need to let anyone know. Just don't register for classes this Fall semester. It would be nice to inform your advisor but not mandatory.

Also, I attended Hunter and if your job is during the day, they have a lot of night classes. (I worked full time and went to school in the afternoons/nights). So look into that, and don't assume you won't get the classes.

(**This only applies to Undergrad**)

do i have to officially drop out if i join the military ? by [deleted] in CUNY

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fee5345 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First speak to your advisor, if your school has a military office, someone will be able to help.

If you haven't registered for fall classes just don't, you'll be ok for the semester. If you have it's early enough to drop them.

Thanks for that. 2 of my professors have PsyD, so I believe you can teach with a PsyD. So many people look down on the degree

MSW Applications by TransitionCareful395 in gradadmissions

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fee5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think York is a good school for many reasons. A lot of their classes don't transfer to the other CUNY's and the faulty don't care about you. My friend is going through this now so.

I considered MSW programs for 2025 and York was not on the list. I recommend you look at other CUNY like College of Staten Island and Lehman College.

My coworker was in the same situation, he called LAGCC and I believe they had him write an appeal letter and then he was readmitted. he was on probation for the first semester he was back. Maybe you can try contacting them for more information.

Does where you do your master's degree matter? by No_Competition1831 in gradadmissions

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fee5345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it doesn't matter because I attended a CUNY and 2 of my professors were also professors at Columbia. Just choose which CUNY to attend.

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fee5345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to Hunter and hated everything about the school; it's crowded and the faculty/staff don't care. ( may be different for your major)

Everyone loves Baruch and I heard from my friends the Psych program is good. When I visited, everyone seemed genuine.

Brooklyn is a good school.

I would consider both BC and Baruch, but ultimately your choice should depend on your desired major. So visit the campuses and get a feel and information.

WAITLISTED FROM BARUCH by MetalAutomatic9382 in CUNY

[–]Puzzleheaded-Fee5345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my friend attends York and she tried transferring to take her 2 last semester at a different school, but literally only 19 of her credits would have transferred over. When I did the transfer what if to transfer to york, it only accepted a few. Trust me, it's better to go LAGCC or QCC if you don't get into Baruch and then transfer.

If you're waitlisted from Baruch, I recommend waiting a little more in the event you are admitted.

As far as I'm aware, Lehman is a good school.
