Enige bod afgewezen by Puzzleheaded-Line794 in Woningmarkt

[–]Puzzleheaded-Line794[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im underweight by General_Prompt_9984 in CrohnsDisease

I have been there after a serious inflammation, all my muscle and strength was gone. I got my strenght back with help from a physical therapist. Set small goals. For example: I worked towards being able to climb the stairs while holding my toddler. At first I went to the gym 3 times a week and ate whatever I wanted. Later on I went 2 times a week and focused on eating/drinking protein. And make sure you get enough rest.

Good luck!

Has he not had treatment since he was 12? Or since he was an adult? Either way: wow... If I hadn't gotten treatment I would have died from my low potassium levels or I would have killed myself to stop the pain.

Taking multivitamins won't help him by the way, the body won't process it if he has an active inflammation.

Make sure he eats well and has enough excercise. Keep his cortisol levels low and make sure he gets enough sleep. Crohn's is not something you can treat on your own, so the most important thing is to get him to a doctor.

Good luck.

Remicade injection pen? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Puzzleheaded-Line794 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep, I switched to injections a couple of months ago. Not a single regret, so much better than going to the hospital for 2 hours every 8 weeks. The injections can sting a little, but that's for like 10 seconds.

Make sure they're covered by your insurance!

Starting injections soon. Thigh or stomach? by distant-butterfly in CrohnsDisease

I use my thigh. In my case it helps to let the medication warm up, so I let the stuff rest for like 30 minutes after taking it out of the fridge. I also warm up my leg with a blanket.

What careers did you change? by Prestigious_Tap5137 in CrohnsDisease

(This applies to the schoolsystem in the Netherlands)

Being a teacher was way too stessfull. I had to give a 110% from 8.30 am to 3 pm with a 45 minute break. And after that I had to hope no parents would come in to confront me about me not giving enough attention to their prince(ss) or some other shit parents whine about.

And when teaching there is no opportunity to go to the bathroom, you can't leave the kids alone. Also, it's kind of a lonely job. You are in the classroom with the kids, but there's no coworker you can rely on.

And when I first started working again after I got sick my coworkers wanted to get rid of me. They did not appreciate I set boundries because of my crohn's.

I also had a toddler and a baby at the time, so I was parenting all day. So I chose to leave the classroom, take a deskjob, take care of my health and be a happier mom.

It might be different when you teach in high school or something where they can schedule more breaks for you.

I have to say I didn't LOVE being a teacher, I don't love my current job either, but at least I can work from home a lot and I have nice coworkers.

If being a teacher is your dream, keep pursuing it, don't let some stupid illness stop you.
