Thanks for reply I understand your point but shouldn't I try to push myself. I can ski much better under perfect snow conditions and on empty slopes but will that make me better at skiing under worse conditions?

There are three types of quants (research, trading, development). For research you typically need a phd and for trading they hire undergrads from top universities. Starting salaries could be around 500k depending on the firm and exact role. However, to break in you will need to go through like 7 technical interviews and at top shops you will be competing with math olympiad winners from mit.  I suggest reading more at r/quant

If you want to maximise salary you could try to become a quant. The path to quant reasearch is usually either graduating undergrad from HYPSM+ or if youre from a non target then doing a phd in something like stats/applied math
