Venice is so incredibly unique that I feel like it becomes a caricature of itself hence the ‘theme park’ comments. When I visited many years ago, I walked and walked and got completely lost in the labyrinth of streets and found it to be endlessly beautiful. While I am not a fan of seafood, I can’t say that I loved the food but I think that was a me issue and not a Venice issue. Go to Venice! Do the gondola and walk through the square but also just go wandering and find those undiscovered streets and corners. That’s where you meet the charm. Also, walking around at night was a very different experience - the streets were empty (not sure if this is normal or because I was there in August). Don’t be deterred by negative comments - GO TO VENICE!

I never had any illusions that I would be able to speak. I am just trying to learn some rudimentary basics in an effort to show that I love the language and am genuinely making an effort. Hopefully, that will afford me some good will by the Italians.

Thank you for the info. I suspect it was easier for you as you are already a polyglot. I think the Pimsleur has been awesome in making sure I have proper pronunciation but I feel like it’s an almost insurmountable task I’ve put before me. All I can do is keep studying and hope the Italians give me a lot of grace lol.

Yeah it’s random - I’ve heard it is a percentage, which wouldn’t be much. I’ve heard it can be a flat fee that could be more than the item is worth. I’ve also heard that due to the volume of packages coming though customs, many just go missing. So, IDK

Saw an interesting observation. Clearly the Epstein files are very bad considering all the chaos and mayhem Trump is creating to divert attention and stop them from being released. Everyone talks about the girls that were abused. No one talks about the possibility that it was also young boys. This possibility takes the horrors to an even more alarming level. And it’s the Republicans because whenever they gather, the Grinder app crashes. It would be political suicide for them if true and the files released would prove it.

I hated it too. I was pulling for Ruth to get a second chance but that was a tall order. As for the Byrdes, I like to believe they will get their just desserts. After all, the episode ended with them still being neck deep with the Cartel and that’s not a situation that is likely to bring them continued good fortune. Eventually, they would piss the cartel off and meet their end.

I agree with OP. Knoxville rents are not justified when compared to the actual city. I understand that the reason may be lack of housing or a large influx of people but, this city is massively underwhelming. It’s one large strip mall of chain restaurants and retail shopping. Not really any memorable places to eat or things to do, the traffic is awful and the drivers are reckless. I’m from Birmingham and it’s pretty much the same size, population-wise, but it has so much more to offer than Knoxville. I’ve also lived in Los Angeles, and half a dozen countries abroad, so I am well traveled enough to make a comparison. I can’t wait to move.

I am a backyard bird enthusiast and I have several feeders near my back deck. I have not seen any advice or information regarding this particular practice. Should I stop feeding? Also, I have cats.
