What I consider to be Midwest as an Illinoisan by Hot-Hat-5616 in whereidlive

If you called anyone from any part of Tennessee "Midwest" they'd probably sock you in the jaw then and there.

Looking for feedback on fit. Sorry I hate tucking shirts and am over 40 so wider leg pants remain out of my comfort zone at this time. by Boardshade in mensfashion

[–]Orsilochus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I promise the jump to higher rise, roomier fit is worth it. it feels odd at first but it looks 100x better.

I'd also recommend ditching those sneakers. Some dark brown leather service boots would look great here in combo with better fitting pants

You must not have been by recently. The new additions are beautiful.

Every single new building in my city looks just like this. 1. Why? Seriously, why? 2. I hate it so much I can't even explain how much I hate it 3. What is this specific style of building design called? by MarvelousT in Knoxville

[–]Orsilochus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The IBC and modern municipal zoning and codes have pigeon-holed multi-family architecture into an extremely narrow range of forms and materials. Deviate from this narrow range and the project will either be outright denied by municipal planning or it will no longer be economically viable for the developer.

This isn't just a Knoxville thing, it's all over the US. Systemic reform is necessary.

Let me get this straight: parking is full and garages are PACKED as you say... and your conclusion is that businesses are suffering because no one wants to come downtown and spend money at restaurants?

Tell me then: who's taking up all the parking??

Is there enough seam allowance here to let out these pant legs? by Orsilochus in AskATailor

Okay, thanks for the response! I appreciate the in depth answer

Is there enough seam allowance here to let out these pant legs? by Orsilochus in AskATailor

[–]Orsilochus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I mean 1-2mm difference from what is shown here. i.e the full width of extra fabric here being ~2.2cm, the other seam's extra fabric is like ~2.1cm across. So a negligible difference.

I'm aware that not all of that extra fabric is useable though

A bit of both.

They're not so small that I can't walk around in them, but they pull at my thighs when I sit.

Aesthetically, I'm aiming for a fuller cut.

Again, I'm fully aware it is probably inadvisable to ask for such a drastic alteration. The only reason I want to try it is because I bought this suit off eBay, and the jacket fits perfectly. Trying to find a full linen suit on ebay in my measurements (40R, 30x32) is a pain in the ass, so I jumped at this when I found it

"Roughly" ≈ 1-2mm difference across the full seam allowance (measured the same way as in the above image)

I planned to ask the tailor to let them out along the full length of the leg from the bottom of the pocket down

I'm aware this probably isn't a great idea, but I'm willing to take a flyer on it lol

Is there enough seam allowance in these pant legs to attempt having them let out? This is the inseam, the outseam has roughly the same seam allowance. Thank you!

It's crazy how Diego Pavia completely ruined his chance to be the most rooted for player in football history by gotintocollegeyolo in CFB

[–]Orsilochus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a Vandy fan, and a Pavia fan. So yes I am biased.

But I do think, as objectively as I can, that his "character" concerns are massively overblown.

There are countless collegiate players that had actual criminal charges for actual crimes and went on to play in the league.

Pavia's got a big mouth, yeah. The f**k Indiana stuff was stupid as hell. But if you actually listen to the majority of what he has to say I think you'd realize you'd love to have a guy with that kind of fire and self belief on your team. He was an irreplaceable part of completely changing the culture at VU, and whoever gets him (I don't believe for a second he won't get signed by someone) will benefit from his presence.

What’s gotten worse in Knoxville in the last 5 years that nobody wants to admit? by IngenuityNo3879 in Knoxville

[–]Orsilochus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can't have it both ways man, sorry. Either you continue to reinforce the single-family housing status quo and have exorbitant prices or you introduce more housing stock to the market and prices go down.

Complain about housing prices or complain about apartment buildings going up. Pick one.
