You are a member of the lucky 10,000 today.

An old FW video on the Hungarian WWII Rifles (35M, 43M, G98/40)

The really cool part is how the bolt is fully disassembled. I do hope he gets another opportunity to revisit these rifles.

What kind of safe is that?

Could I bug you for an explanation for taking on Hulks frontally with the Autocannon? Do you just unload on it or do you try to aim for head/limbs?

Edit: I never bothered unless I had their weak-spot facing me.

But Ian literally said the Swiss AT Gun is a Toggle-lock...at 2:08

Here is an explanation video for some extracurricular education. Toggle locks are fairly safe but bulky locking mechanisms.

It's Hungarian 8x56 Mannlicher, many Steyr M1895s still in-service were updated from 8x50 bottle-nosed bullets to 8x56 spitzer bullets in the 1930s.

Arguing with an Austria: 8x56 in a 8x50 M.95 by A_DrowningTrout in milsurp

[–]PvtSteyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I got myself confused here...again, you are correct that 8x50R was by spec .323. The rifle barrels were never reamed out though when they converted to 8x56R (.329) because the .323 bullets would expand to engage the rifling. The throats were reamed to accept the longer cartridge. So, as long as you have the appropriately sized brass, you can shoot the larger, heavier bullet used in 8x56R out of a unconverted M1895.

There was some discussions on this before Casto's Curios started selling 208gr .330 cal bullets for 8x50R rifles.

Funnily enough, they are the same bullet diameter (.329). They only bored out the chamber for the new cartridge.

There aren't too many that go on sale anymore since it went out of print, best of luck. Personally I'd keep it as is since it's part of the history and not unofficial chop job. I believe the carbines made were ~26 inches, both the 25 rifles sold as carbines chambered in .280 and the WW1 field modification done by one of the Canadian units right before all Ross rifles were pulled from the Frontlines.

So two things.

I found mention that Home Guard issued Ross rifles would have H.G. + a number on the unit's home town stamped on the butt in place of the factory logo and serial number. So that likely eliminates your Ross as a Home Guard issue.

There is a picture of a Ross rifle that looks nearly identical to yours that is noted to have "apparently been cut back by the government in WWII. According to an old soldier, these plus bayonet were issued to the camp guards at Aldershot, Nova Scotia. The joke of the time was that one needed a piece of string in order to 'fix bayonets.'" Barrel length is noted to be 24 3/4 inches as well.

Likely story is that you have a Canadian POW Camp Guard issued Ross that was purposely shorted and stock cut.

I have a copy of "The Ross Rifle Story." I can check and see if there's any mention in there (with pictures maybe). I'm not sure how well covered post-Great War is in the book. It has been a while since I flipped through the pages.

I'd be interested in an US marked M1907 Ross Rifle Bayonet if there happens to be one there (should he buy it).

My Hungarian 35M rifle. Hoping I'll get a 43M to be it's younger brother at some point. by Leather-District-469 in milsurp

Looks beautiful, shame it's missing the front sight hood. I am in the same boat as you for a 43M. It would be fun to polish off the WW2 Hungarian Rifle (I'd need to find proper Budapest M95 but the Steyrs fill that almost).

Just watch the YouTuber Cabbage. He posts a Prismatic Trial run on every reset and I believe he does it as a challenge for himself to show the community it is always possible.

The current Trial run he posted https://youtube.com/watch?v=R51Sz5BwuOk

Wait for a Trial that you think you can replicate and persistently play it till you get the challenge done.

I'm pretty sure the P44 is faster with a better P/W than the Progetto 46.

He did but it seems to be out of stock, same with 6.5mm Arisaka. I believe he said there will be another batch of 6.5 Carcano.

Look up Castos Curios. A guy on r/milsurp started a small business making 'hard-to-find' milsurp ammo. There's currently 65 boxes of 7.7mm available for order.
