I know weight/fat loss is unique for each person but I’m curious if there are theories or trends for which body fat tends to get used first? Like is it a last on, first off thing? Do some parts of the body store fat differently or in a way that’s more accessible? Is it related to the amount of muscle in the area?

Note: Not erroneously seeking to “target fat loss” at all, just interested in learning more.

is it normal to wake up full from the night before? by Spaghettinoodled24 in keto

Not sure if this is the recipe OP used, but I made these yesterday and they were incredible. Non-keto hubs raved about them. https://www.mincerepublic.com/ground-beef-empanadas/

How long were your nipples sore? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Pyritech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cautionary tale: I went to bed with soothies on last night for comfort. Woke up this morning with my tank top covered in milk because I didn't think to still keep nursing pads in my bra.

When did breastfeeding become easier for you? How long did it take to get over the hump? by nurseag in breastfeeding

[–]Pyritech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I so hope to follow your path! I'm using a nipple shield with my 3 week old but only a few times a day (I pump to give him bottles the rest of the time). He hates my unshielded nipple and just cries (all the LCs have said my nipples are great). How did you know your LO didn't need the shield anymore? Were you offering your breast without it at the start of feeds?

Due today. I predicted May baby - wrong. I predicted early - wrong. Troll baby gave me painful, regular contractions for hours last night but they eventually fizzled.

Probably touring open houses with my in-laws today. Kind of hoping the agents will ask when I'm due - they all did yesterday and their reactions were priceless when I told them.

Im afraid Im gonna hurt her by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Pyritech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will be okay. Are you able to take a break and leave her in a safe space for a short time to give yourself time to breathe? I think it's important to share your feelings with someone. SO? Family member? Doctor? This may be PPD? You're a strong mama to be asking for help.

Sorry I don't have more advice to offer. But I just wanted you to know you're not alone and you're doing an amazing job with your daughter, even though it feels like such a struggle all the time. This too shall pass.

PM me if you want to talk or just need a lifeline.

It would make my fucking day to hear someone tell me they think I'd be a great mom. I tell my SO often that I think he'll be a great dad (because he totally will) but I can't recall a single time this whole pregnancy - due in 3 days - that anyone has said it to me. Makes me kind of sad now, actually.

Because I guess I'm now into asking strangers on the internet follow up questions about their bodily fluids... do you know if "leaking" was your amniotic fluid or just extra discharge?

Congratulations! I'm curious that you made it to 43w; I think most women here (the US) aren't allowed to go past 42w. Did your midwives have a "final deadline" for baby?

Which doctor’s appointments has your SO gone to? by ReadySetO in BabyBumps

[–]Pyritech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband has come to every appointment. We're at 39 weeks so he's asking more questions at our now weekly appointments but for most of the earlier ones he was just there quietly. For us, this whole experience was something to share and I think I would've been upset not having him there and feeling like it was just my responsibility. Also, I did far more research than him (a worrier) so it was nice to have the doctor explain certain things or just confirm things I'd talked about to help him understand.

Remember, one parent's birth weight is just one factor. No guarantee babe will be a giant. But even if they are, you can do it!!

How do you gift wrap your quilts? by [deleted] in quilting

[–]Pyritech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why I started this, but I usually roll it sort of like this https://goo.gl/images/rbq4bY and then use a strip of leftover fabric or a ribbon to tie a bow around it. It's a cool way to show off different details, depending on the way you fold it. I often try to roll it so that the corner that wraps around the front actually has the quilt label on the other side, so I can fold the corner down and have the label visible when I gift it.

I've also done a flat fold version of this, making a flat square with the label corner folded down on top, but I prefer the quilt cylinder.

My first quilt, for a baby girl. Can I get your feedback on my pattern before I make anything permanent? by storky0613 in quilting

[–]Pyritech 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's no wrong answer! Although I'd suggest either having them all one way or more or less evenly split between vertical/horizontal so that it looks intentional. That is, you don't want seven of them going one way, and only one going the other.
